Noveske Article

Just read a good article on Noveske in Guns & Ammo Combat Tactics. Get a copy it’s a good read.

Is this the second part of the interview Noveske did over a year ago?.

I just bought the magazine today. It says display till Feb 2010, so I would imagine it is a fairly recent article. The article discusses and analyzes the accuracy of Noveske barrels.

Explains why Noveske rifles and barrels are at the top of the heap and that you truly do get what you pay for with a Noveske .

I have the magazine and read it, never heard of a “satellite group” until I read this. Apparently that is the one thing that plagues the noveske barrel, so it clamis.

Defense Review http://www.defensereview.com has a two part interview that is very revealing - well he doesn’t give any secrets away. So much so it’s got me thinking… Damnit!

I have the Combat Tactics - and a host of other mags this past week - but I haven’t flipped a page in any of them.

I think that’s a pretty damning article. If I were Noveske, I’d be pissed. The whole “satallite group” thing, to me, translates into: not an accurate barrel. At least I now have a technical term that justifies my AK, it throws satallite groups! What a bunch of BS. For the record, I own two N6s and one Afghan and I have achieved one hole groups. They are few and far between, but that has more to do with me sucking and less to do with the equipment. Their best 5 shot group with the 18" SPR was .966". IMO, that’s nothing to brag about, a little better than MOA. At least their alternate shooter was able to do considerably better. From now on, I’ll call all of my thrown flyers satallite groups.

Yeah I bet John is pissed. Basically said his barrels wont shoot one hole groups, and throws rounds.

I also can’t help but notice the author of the article sounded a bit novice in what he had to say. Maybe I just read it wrong but thats how it came across to me.

FWIW the Afghan upper I used to own was the most accurate upper Ive ever owned, and was half MOA or less if I could manage to not f it up for 10 rds to get a group. I could shoot a 20rd magazine about 1 rd ever 1-2 seconds, and cover it with a quarter. Very accurate barrel, and I never had any satellite hits unless it was something I did like jerk the trigger.

You are right and I thought that article did stick it in him. Then we have someone at MSTN saying that this isn’t typical of Noveske and he then goes on to shoot even better than Hopkins did.

Considering we are talking about AR I still find the groups pretty damn awesome.

I saw Molon’s results with the N4 barrels, I wonder what kind of results others have had here? My best 5 :cough: shot group is 1.25" on my 16" CL Recce using a very heavy GI trigger and a 1x4 NF FC2 with the front rested on a sandbag.

Edit: Ammo was 69gr PRVI

Well, I know of two other rifle companies he’s stepped on toes with. All good things…

Crane or Noveske?

Crane.

We’re not talking N4 CL barrels here, rather the stainless poly rifled variety. I would expect a slight decrement in accuracy switching to the N4 CL. That barrel is built more as a general purpose hard use barrel. More durable. I too would be curious to see what an N4 C/L will do with 75 gr. Hornady TAP.

Here’s part one:

Is part two posted?

Between his schilling for Dragon Skin and his reporting that the USMC bought 50,000 Glocks chambered in 45GAP I don’t see a reason to take anything Crane says seriously.

That first part has been up for almost a year or so. Let’s just say that he has an odd journalistic style.

Forgive my ignorance, but who is David Crane?

Nevermind, just opened the DefRev link…

I haven’t seen the article yet, so they don’t test any N4 barrels?

Trust me, I don’t. I especially enjoyed the article about him making recommendations for certain weapons and gear to the USSS CAT. This guys has never been in the military or been in harms way and yet wants to make recommendations. I don’t think so.
