Noveske "18" Irons" question

I’ve was given a SP1 upper a while back that I’ve been wanting to do a KISS irons build with.
I’m a tall guy with long arms and I want a full length handguard and sight radius, but don’t want a full 20" barrel. Looking for more of a Dissapator type build.
Will the Noveske 18" Irons barrel with FSB installed take a delta ring and standard or MOE 2 piece type handguard or is it an odd length that I will need to run a FF tube with? Not a big deal if it give’s me more sight radius…just trying to plan the build for when the market calms down.

I don’t think the F marked sight base they offer to pin with the buy would be too much of a problem with a A1 type upper since I believe its only .04 difference in height but I would appreciate any input either way.

Thanks

I do not think it will work. There is nothing to hold the hand guard cap in place. I believe a FF is your only option. They will answer the phone so you can call and verify with them.

Matt

It looks to me like a cap could be held in place with a screw on the FSB.

But it also looks like there is too much distance between to utilize the rifle length handguard.

I’d do a search on dissapator builds. It’s been covered before and there are plenty of threads on it.

The irons barrel was made for competition, so I’m pretty sure a non-free floating hand guard never entered the designer’s mind.

Thanks for the quick replies!

Why couldn’t you put a handguard cap on behind the FSB and run 2 piece handguards? I think free float is better, but this would save a couple hundred bucks.

Because the FSB on the Noveske 18" irons barrel is not at a “rifle” length. It’s farther out, nobody to my knowledge makes a plastic hand guard that is that long.

The FSB is at the end of the barrel for maximum sight radius, not at the rifle position.

Thanks for the info everyone! Anyone know what the measurement is or what is the longest freefloat tube that will work?
Really prefer the smaller profile tubes similar to the Troy extreme battle rail I have on an older carbine build
