does anyone have the noveske recon 16" medium weight SS instock?
I was looking for this upper as well and couldn’t find one. I called Noveske and they told me I’d have to wait 6 to 8 weeks to get it.
i was told 10…for just the barrel
Have you considered the N4 middy? I don’t know that the wait will be much better, but I can honestly say that is my new favorite AR15. I would strongly recommend considering it…
i think the N4 rifle is nice as well. the recce is like the recon but with a lighter weight profile and chromelining
I would buy the N4, depending on your particular application. At least call and ask about the wait time. Honestly, I can’t say enough good things about the 16" N4 Light upper I have…I love the damn thing.
im looking to build a compact “SASS” like the SEAL RECCE rifle thats the main reason that im looking toward the SS recon. i do like what i hear about the N4 i just dont think its the barrel for this build. thanks alot for the feedback ![]()
Perhaps not. I think my N4 shoots better than most of the ammo I run through it, but I’ll see what she can do with Mk262 sometime soon and report back.
sounds good.
Noveske 16" N4 light Recce

I performed an accuracy evaluation of my Noveske 16” N4 Light Recce upper following my usual protocol. Testing was performed from a distance of 100 yards. Firing was conducted from a concrete bench with the free-float handguard resting in a Sinclair Bench Rest. The rear stock of the rifle rested in a Protektor bunny-ear bag. Wind conditions were monitored using a Wind Probe. A Leupold VARI-X III set at 25X magnification and adjusted to be parallax free at 100 yards was used for sighting.
Using hand-loaded, match grade ammunition I fired three, 10-shot groups in a row. The extreme spreads of those groups measured:
1.29”
1.18”
1.31”
for a 10-shot average extreme spread of 1.26”. I over-layed those three groups on each other using RSI Shooting Lab to form a 30-shot composite group. The mean radius for the composite group was 0.37”.
After firing the above three groups, I fired an additional five, 10-shot groups in a row using the same set-up for a total of eight, 10-shot groups. The average extreme spread for all eight groups was 1.24”. I over-layed all eight groups on each using RSI Shooting Lab to form an 80-shot composite group. The mean radius for that composite group was 0.39”.

Noveske 16" SS Recon barrel

Testing was done at 100 yards from a bench rest. A Leupold VARI-X III set at 25X magnification was used for sighting. I obtained three 10-shot groups using one of my standard hand-loads for 77 grain Sierra MatchKings. Those three groups measured as follows:
0.81”
0.93”
1.01”
for an average 10-shot extreme spread of 0.92".
These three groups were over-layed on each other using the RSI Shooting Lab software program to obtain a 30-shot composite group. The mean radius for this composite group measured 0.28”. Here’s a pic of the best 10-shot group of the 77 grain MatchKings.

wow nice post. thanks for sharing your findings.

Only makes me more eager to get my SPR upper.
Molon does great work.
Ask and Ye shall receive. It’s worth the wait. I also recently obtained an N4 barrel with Switchblock and can’t wait to slap it together next year.
i think there great people as well. i love my setup
the one that i purchased from them was a crane contract over run recce barrel i just cant wait to see how well it performs.
just thought i would let everyone know that i got my noveske barrel and the quality is amazing. the finish is different than what i have seen on a friends barrel mine is more of a dark gray in finish i cant wait to have it built up.
