Noveske 12.5" GPR Upper

Looking to get a new 12.5" upper for my SBR. Want this to be me go to rifle…light, tough and reliable is what I need in this one. Was considering building one w/ Cent. Arms Bbl., FailZero upper adn BCG, and Viking Tactical rail (I like how light and strong these are). For the price of that build I could just about get one of the New Noveske 12.5" GPR Uppers w N4 Light CL barrel.

I e-mailed Noveske three weeks ago to get the weight on their upper…no response. How do their uppers balance? I know that the SWS rail isn’t known for being that light. Their barrel is known for being light and strong. The MUR upper looks like it might be heavier, too and the Noveske doesn’t have any of the NiB coating. I suppose I could swap the BCGs if I wanted. Will the Noveske GPR fit the bill, or am I better of building for my needs?

I’d just get a basic Noveske 12.5 upper and put a rail of your choice on it. The NiB stuff isn’t needed.

Anybody Else?

You can’t go wrong with Noveske, and the GPR looks like it will fit your needs. I’m actually considering one myself. I agree with Goodtimes, that you can just get the GPR basic and put a rail on their that will fit your needs.

In regards to the MUR, I have a Noveske 14.5" light basic w/VIS (the carbine version, before they switched to mid-length on the 14.5" barrels). It uses the MUR upper but is also monolithic with the rail. Vltor’s website states that the VIS carbine upper is 21.5oz. The MUR upper receiver alone is 10oz.
