I am a huge fan of the 12.5" barrel. I feel that is is as close to the “do it all AR” as they come. It is short enough to work in vehicles and confined spaces yet it is long enough to reach out to 500 meters and can stabilize the heavier 5.56 rounds(MK262). Overall the best GP set up if you have only one rifle, I do not but that is irrelevant.
To start off I wanted to set this up as my primary carbine. So it is loaded to everything that I need it to do. I have had this in may different configurations over the last few years but this is the final product.

LOWER:
DPMS lower (I have had this for about 15 years now and more rounds than I can even think about)
CMT lower parts kit
CMC Single Stage 3-3.5lb Trigger Group (I do not like two stage triggers for a fighting carbine)

MagPul Trigger Guard
Tango Down Battlegrip BG-17 (very heavily stippled)
BFG Redi-Mod
MagPul BAD

Not pictured is my very old BFG VCAS. I like the PMAG 40s as my first up mags and have PMAG 30s in mt kit. The custom paint job is just some Krylon colors I had, no real pattern just paind the stuff that was standing out. I still need to paint the DBAL-D2 and the Mini4.
No real need for it and a two stage trigger is designed more for persision shooting. I even have a single stage Timney 3 lbs trigger on my Noveske 18" SPR.
Bad ass rifle, Noveske was very fond of the 12.5 inch barrel and spoke of it as the best of all worlds. I have the DI MRP and wish that LMT would produce a DI 12.5 barrel. May have to go the 14.5 cut down route to get it done. How is the RGV this evening? We are experiencing some freezing rain up here in CENTEX. God Bless Texas!!
I spoke with John about the 12.5 when he started to sell them. He sold be on the first 12.5" SS Crusaders and I have been a fan since. I almost went the 14.5 MRP cut-down route…I still may.
We are getting some very cold weather (for us it is very cold) here in South Texas so up there it must be very bad…
The MRP is a great platform and I have thoroughly enjoyed mine. Currently getting a nice coating of frozen rain, going to have to incorporate some snowboarding into the shooting tomorrow. Have you taken on any coyotes/hogs with this setup? Happy New Year!!
I have that magazine where Noveske’s on the cover (I think) and he’s talking about how he loved hunting with his 12.5" barrel. I Also believe it was one of the last interviews he did.
