Anyone able to compare the two? I’ve recently parted ways with my 2nd E1B, and every time I lose one I notice the price has gone up another 20 bucks. I’m not exactly eager to pay that since I’m now sure I’ll lose it after 9 months or so. I LOVED my E1B though, best EDC flashlight I’ve ever seen. If I could get one at $100, I would.
Botac has the Novatac 120T and 120E for $89-99 but I’ve never used one before. Anyone have any extended experience with them? How do they compare in size, switching and ease of use to an E1B?
If anyone has a suggestion for a light with similar size and capabilities, I’m all ears. No twist-ons though.
The new Inova Inforce 6V looks pretty promising. TADGear has them, among others:

Check out the LaRue Tactical website. Probably the cheapest place to get a E1B.
For anyone that has the same questions I did about the Novatac vs an E1B, here’s what I can tell you. These are initial impressions. I’ll have a better handle on it after a few months of carry.
I’m assuming you’re already familiar with the E1B. I got a Novatac 120T and I really like it out of the box.
The Novatac switching is great. Switching through the modes is really easy to figure out (RTFM), and if you fat finger it you go back to high, which is good. The E1B used to bug me when I tried strobing it and it would alternate high/low or high/high/low depending on how fast I was pushing the button. Even better, click-press the 120T and there’s got a strobe built in. I can strobe from any mode, so if I’m searching with the medium setting I could just press to start strobing a bad guy. Very neat. I like that I have both a momentary and click-on high beam. The whole click-press or click-click thing is much easier to figure out that I thought it would be.
It won’t carry as nicely as the E1B. The pocket clip kinda sucks, but so do the vast majority of flashlight pocket clips. It’s a little wider, longer and heavier, and the knurling is unnecessary. The guys at SF got it right with the smooth E1B. The raised switch will lead to the light being on in your pocket. If you can get the recessed switch, do it.
I suppose the trade off for the light being bigger is the switch is as big as a 6P, so there’s plenty of area to hit. Not that I ever had a problem switching the E-size switch on an E1B.
This thing could really use a better pocket clip without the raised edge around the circumference. That’ll probably get annoying.
I’ll revisit this topic in a few months when I know more about this thing.
I’ve been carrying a 120P for almost nine months and can’t imagine switching to anything else.
