Not bad for $25

I was at Bass Pro in Hampton VA this weekend. I got accosted by a rather attractive looking blond who asked if I was interested in touring a resort they were building in Williamsburg. She said for $25 I could reserve my spot and after the tour I’d get my choice of some “gifts.” I could get a $125 Visa card or two Busch Gardens tickets and $50 in Bass Pro gift cards or two Water Country USA tickets and $75 in Bass Pro gift cards, or $150 in Bass Pro gift cards.

We were staying in the Great Wolf Lodge anyway, so what the heck. We went, it was, as I expected, a time-share pitch. We said no thank you, got our cards, and left.

So for $25 and an hour of my time, I got 1000 rounds of 9mm on the way. Not too shabby, IMO.

The wife and I have done those a couple of times when, like you described, we knew the giveaway and considered it worth the time.

Besides, it can be fun toying with the pitch-givers…

Them: “So, you like taking vacations?”

Me: “Not really. I prefer to work.”

We’ve stopped for dinner at Great Wolf Lodge, but haven’t stayed there yet.
