Mods, please move this if I put it in the wrong section. Thanks!
I finally finished my S&W M&P15 project. I wanted a very simple, lightweight carbine for general purpose, home defense, plinking, etc.
It started off as my first real jump into the AR world when I traded into a basic M&P15. I’ve done some dumb things with my money, as far as this rifle goes, but I’ve learned along the way. I’ve also learned much more about what I want from training classes, reading here, and so forth.
So, here she is in her current form. I’ve been very pleased with the rifle before these modifications (1k steel case, 1k brass case fired, 0 malfs). I just hope that I’m satisfied with the setup once I’m able to train with it some more.
Here are the pics:
Things I added to the rifle:
MOE handguards
CTR stock (should have bought the MOE, but I was dumb…)
IWC Mount N Slot for Surefire G2 LED
IWC sling attachment point
MBUS rear (want to replace this with something more robust)
MOE pistol grip
VCAS sling (flame away for the multicam, I like the color, but I’m no operator )
Nice looking simple rig but what’s up with your sling setup? I see you have it attached to the left side of the hand guard but the right side of the stock and the whole setup is rubber banded up. What’s your reasoning for that?
I like the sling attached on the left rear of the handguard and right of the buttstock. My reasoning behind this is ease of shouldering. I’m inside the sling loop when I’ve got the rifle slung, so I have the attachment on the outside of the butt. Is this correct? I’m not sure, but it feels right to me.
The rubber bands just keep the sling out of the way or from snagging on other rifles when the rifle is in the safe. If I need it in a hurry, just rip the rubber bands and sling up.
