Non date stamped AR magazines

I am looking for a manufacturer that make non date stamped USGI AR magazines. Anyone have a source?

Hmmmm

I’ll ask. Why?

So they may be considered Pre-ban in states like NY where they have an actual date in the penal law stating which are legal high capacity (Grand fatherd)

Should say: “I am looking to create a digital footprint that shows intent to break local laws”.

In my experience a mag not date stamped will be considered and assumed to be post-ban by law enforcement. All my Colt and Parson mags are stamped pre '94.

I’m in Onondaga county and guys have been getting arrested with AK mags because they aren’t stamped. Cops say “well if it isnt stamped then you can’t prove its date of manufacture now can ya?” Even tho everyone assumes surplus steel AK mags are Pre-ban surplus.

Guilty until proven innocent when it comes to evil and scary things like hi-cap mags that feed rifles with no “sporting” purpose wink wink.

So to the OP… your best off not trying to play the game or hustle the system as its easy enough to get jammed up even when playing by the rules.

I checked my mags, and I have two brands that do not have dates.

cammenga( recieved from a friend)
Kay/okay? not sure what it is, but i recieved it from a SWCC operator.

I thought the exact same thing

You gotta love 'em even when they aren’t.

Okay
If actual Okay, they have an internal date stamp.
One part on each half of the body, or duplicate on each half of the body depending on time produced
Thing is, the code they use make it seem like post ban when it is not.
For example it might be stamped like KX/02
That is not a 2002 date, but a 72 or 82 depending on what the other side is stamped, regardless, all Okay have been externally date stamped since 1993 so ‘no date’ = ‘no ban’

As to the AK mags, the specific patterns, shape/location of the full mag indicator hole, specific shape of the upper portion that goes in the rifle magwell, the tab the mag release engages, the nib that engages the receiver at the front of the magwell, the size shape and even mere presence of the spine rib, the shape of the end of the rib at the floorplate end and even the spot welds in some instances are all useable as manufacture location identifiers.

If you have, say, an East German manufacture its pretty safe bet that its pre ban what with East Germany ceasing to exist before the AWB

Another amusing one are the Chinese super scary 75 and 100rd drums. Stamped with a triangle with a 36 in it above the winding key on the back cover, or a numeric code that I don’t recall right at the moment, are actually so pre ban they are pre ban-pre ban.
Banned from import in 1989, those present in the US at the time were grandfathered from that ban making them pre ban at that time, and as such beat out the 94 ban which they were grandfathered yet again giving them pre ban-pre ban status.

AFA NYSP, they are the same people who have policy that if you can stick your pinky into the end of a muzzle device it is a flash hider, period.
With stunning briliance like that as the norm for AWB stuff, while out afield proving mags pedigree even WITH a external date stamp and an original receipt written in 1972 isn’t going to go far. Be prepared for court.

Local PD and Sheriff dept’s in NY have a lot of personnel that don’t even know the ban law, or care to look to begin with before making the arrest, and will swear all day long that you have to have a pre ban rifle to even own pre ban mags and you can never ever put it in a post ban rifle.
PL 265.00 #22 & #23 say otherwise.
Again, be prepared for court.

EDIT: none of the above is to be considered as legal advice. It is only to point out that there are ban status indicators if one is willing to do a little research.

Nor is it a knock on LEOs but more a point that policy doesn’t neccisarily equal reality. There’s also a bunch out there who could care less about when a receiver or mag was made and think the AWB is just as stupid as you do.

OK, my original question sounds pretty dumb. I did not do enough research before posting. I was offered some mags that had no dates and unmarked floor plates. It turns out they are SA80 mags. I was unsure because they looked brand new. Thanks guys.

I live in NY as well and have to deal with the same thing. I have USGI magazines made by A.S.C LLC New Britian CT. I bought them at the gun shows in Saratoga Springs. There are no date stamps on them and I was told that they are all pre bans. The vendors at these shows have to comply with the local law since they never know who the next customer is. These magazines are all new btw. Another source is B and J gun supply in Albany. They reman pre bans for sale and they aren’t cheap but they are dated pre bans. You might look into the gun show coming to Syracuse in September they will certainly have pre bans for sale.

Check gunbroker, there is a dealer that sells old mags. Most of them are pre 1980 and he shows the various manufacturers.

I’m so glad I don’t live in the Commie country(NY). Freedom is a beautiful thing!

Don’t forget Orlite - the ORIGINAL polymer mag!

p.s. - they ain’t no PMags, but they ARE NY legal.

As far as I know, the Federal AWB merely mandated that post-ban magazines be marked with the MIL/LE/Export warning. Some manufacturers CHOSE to mark their magazines with dates after the ban.

The vast majority of pre-ban magazines I’ve ever seen (I own ~50), are unmarked and undated. I operate under the assumption that all completely unmarked magazines are alright.

Disclaimer: I’m not a legal expert and fully acknowledge my fallibility, especially on this subject.

They lied to you, the company you mention didn’t exist prior to 1994
