Nikons M-223 1-4x20

Anyone know anything about these? Have a few Nikon scopes and they have really nice glass in them. Anyone know and/or have a pic of the reticle? Point Blank reticle.

They also have a mount for it. http://www.nikonsro.com/Products/Riflescope-Rings/743/M-223-Mounts.html
Be nice to know if it was high enough so that front sight wouldn’t interfer.

This looks like a pretty decent scope for the $. It has a matching mount but I cannot find the mounting height.

It does not appear to have any ranging ability in the reticle. Nice with big range numbers telling you range, but what if range is unknown…?

Dial it to 400 yd/m, but how do you know from the reticle that the target is indeed 400 yd/m ?

I see what you mean but I probably won’t be getting out past 200 much. I have never owned a Nikon but have heard good things from owners and online reviews (for what they are worth). My biggest issue is that none of my local shops have them in yet. I would love to look through one before I make the jump. In the video link above it looks like they are running the scope in the Nikon 223 mount as well and the carbine still has the front site in tact. So it looks like a pretty nice setup so far.

So what is the projected retail then???

I know I’m reopening an old thread, but the topic is right on point.

I own one of these Nikon 1-4x20mm scopes - specifically the BDC 600 version that I believe is exclusive to Midway. Unfortunately, the one I have does not seem to have a true 1x at the low end, but instead some sort of wide angle at the 1x setting, working out to roughly 0.8x - yes, shrinking the target compared to looking outside the scope. Is this normal? I haven’t seen any reviews stating this is normal for this model, and it seems like people would say so. I also have a Burris 1-4x and that scope is a true 1x at the 1x setting, as far as I can tell.

I just want to know if I should go to the hassle of asking Nikon to replace the scope, or if it’s normal and I should sell it and move on.

cheaper there…

I agree - I have one of these on my .308 “trunk gun” and would readily put one on an AR if I had a need.

Sounds normal to me.

You can’t actually achieve true 1x through a lens. It just looks really close to it. It’s normal.

I have the African. For the price the glass is pretty decent. The 1X is extremely close to a true 1X. I don’t need or want the exposed turrets, but if you do go for it. Preference in retcles is personal, and if you’re not shooting past 200 yds you will probably be fine. I called Nikon and asked for a plain black turret cover to replace the goofy golden water buffalo item, they sent it out to me free of charge.

LOL - I did the same thing!

The golden water buffalo really needs to go.
