Just wondering about the overall durability of the Nikon P 223, specifically the 3-9x40. An endless web search has turned up the fact that these optics are well worth the money as far as glass clarity and ability to hold zero off the bench. However, I cannot find much, if anything, pertaining to its durability as far has hard long term use. I am highly considering this optic on a training rig but cannot deplete the ammo fund given the current state of affairs. A more expensive optic is not an option at this point in time. If anyone has any first hand experience or has heard anything about the performance of this optic in a rough shooting enviornment, I would be grateful to hear about it. Can the P 223 take a good amount of bumps and jolts that come hand in hand with scenario training? My only reservation is that Nikon clearly dictates a shockproof feature on other scopes in their lineup, but nothing of the sort is mentioned for the P 223. Any responses are greatly appreciated. Even if you do not own this specific optic but have experience with Nikon products I would like to hear your thoughts and opinions. Thank you.
P., Agree, I have also been hearing nothing but positive comment’s about this offering from Nikon. I have had one since Oct. 12 and fired probably 750 rounds down range thus far. Longest shot’s have been at 200 yards and no difference in accuracy today then last Oct…
I’m sold and yes, even though I do some freelance work for Nikon, I still had to buy my scope. It has found a good home for now on top of my LMT 5.56 and I have a feeling it’ll stay there for a while.

Very nice setup. Im assuming this optic will have no issues facing general mistreatment associated with LEO work? I’m about to place an order…
For a duty weapon, there are much better (and robust) options out there…
Obviously check with your dept., here in N. Tx Officer’s aren’t allowed optic’s on their duty AR’s and there are other strict rules. What surprised me most was that some dept. make the officer’s buy their own! I would think that would be issued by the dept.?
As for the P-223 3-9 BDC 600, it is certainly a tough scope but from what my officer friends tell me, to much magnification for their use. Perhaps the P-223 3X Carbine Scope would be more useful for your application ?
