Nikon M223 20 Minute Elevation Mount

Well guys I bought a Nikon P-223 3-9x scope a couple on months ago at one of the local big box sporting goods stores. The deal was the scope , with BDC, and a set of rings for one nice sale price. After much argument with the hunting manager he finally ponies up a set of rings that were supposed to be with the scope when I picked it up off of rain check. Instead of the two seperate ring assemblies for the p-223 I get the monlithic base ring assembly for the higher dollar M-223 scope.

The potential downside to this is that I don’t know with the 20 minutes elevation built in am I likely to be able to zero on a standard flat top upper? I know the best answer is to go shoot it and find out. Well I can’t exactly do that right now…starting to collect the pieces and parts to build a 20" varmint upper. If the 20 minute elevation rings are likely to cause me a problem I will go to another branch of the big box store and exchange them for the M-223 mount with out the 20 minute elevation built in before I’m trying to return/trade a set of used mounts.

What say you? Should the 20 minute elevation mount work for a 5.56mm/.223 varmint upper or will I be out of elevation adjustment?

I would think it’ll be fine… JMO… Ron

You’ve got 80 MOA of adjustment on that scope. You’ll be just fine.

Thanks. I suspected that I had enough but I did not want to unpack and fold spindle or mutilate if I was going to have to do something different.

I purchased the same scope for my AR. The same mount came with the scope free. If you are not planning on using BUIS w/ the scope you will be fine. I found that the scope sat directly on my BUIS regardless of how far i moved the scope forward. As far as sighting it in it was no problem at all. I did finally end up swapping the mount with a ADM Scout QD mount.

YMMV

Semper, You will be just fine and nice of the retailer to upgrade your mount as well. What you have now should be all you will need to shoot accurately at long ranges.
Enjoy!

B-Man:
Thanks for the input. The manager had gotten me to the point I was setting up to call and send a letter to the store retail manager and the district manager detailing the litany of unreturned phone calls and accusations of attempts to cheat the Big Box store. I think he finally realized that I was not going away until I had either had my mount or…
Will not be spending much more time or money there. All of this drama for a failure to return phone calls (5).
