It is worth the wait…I carry a NHC Enforcer as my duty gun at work. Its the only 1911 I’ve owned that has been 100% reliable right from the first rounds downrange. I’ve had Kimbers, a Colt, but always had enough feeding issues to make me nervous. The Nighthawk eats everything. Post some pics of that girl when you get her!
Thanks for the feedback. Nice to hear it’s a worthy choice. Found out about them when I asked a friend, “What would YOU get if you could have any 1911 you wanted?”
Dave, I’m sure I will be passing out cigars when she gets here.
I got to play with another friend’s Talon. The things are just so amazingly solid and beautifully put together.
I actually just got mine last friday, Enforcer with Pred barrel system, but it had to go back last week because in the SHIT TON of mods I requested one didn’t make it on the build sheet. Since it’s Diamond Black finish it’s an hour of work and 6 weeks of waiting. D’oh.
Wow that’s a beautiful gun. Almost looks like it could shoot those groupings without any help at all.
Titleist, you mean you got yours and had to send it back? How did you manage to do that?! I don’t know if I could part with it. What other mods did you request other than the barrel system change?
It was tough, Rob at NHC basically said that since I had it for a weekend to just shoot the ever loving piss out of it to at least enjoy it for a few days.
What I had done was:
-Railed Enforcer (naked slide, so it just has the NHC logo but not ‘enforcer’)
-Predator Barrel system
-Heine Ledge sights with tritium dot over dot
-Checkering on the back of the slide, front strap, etc
-G10 NHC Black Grips
-Completely Diamond-Black, so barrel, trigger, frame/slide, etc.
What got left out was the checkering under the trigger guard, something I’m used to having on my M&Ps and my Nighthawk FLX 9mm. No big deal, NHC took it back, the hand work is about an hour, the diamondblack is what takes the longest.
Bad photo, but you get the idea, we’ll meet again in 5-6 weeks. Plus it gives me time to get the dozen or so Wilson 47Ds and a few Hilton 10-8 mags to finally run it through a class:
The test target it came with had ONE .45cal hole, not a group, just 3 shots in the same hole. It shoots WAY better than I do.
I have mags coming, all my raven stuff is hear, just gotta get it back and buy a shit ton of .45. I love having my 9mm for competition and classes, and that bad boy for carry in the winter.
It has a very crisp trigger which helps. I’ve hit opossums (lived in TX at the time) and armadillos at 50-55yrads within 2 shots. You are going to like it!
I do not really understand the allure of 9mm 1911s (or Bobtails, for that matter) unless you already happen to have more than your share of .45s, but Nighthawk builds a very nice gun.
1911 trigger, ergonomics, size (width), however unless you step up to a double stack you’re behind the curve on capacity, and when you do that you’re throwing away the size advantage of the single stacks.
Well, apparently, I do not have a high tolerance for waiting. (I still get keyed up for Christmas morning) I went out and bought a “while you wait for your new gun” gun. Hey, shooting my 45 exclusively was EATING into my “save for the NightHawk fund”. Expensive kid to feed.
Got a S&W M&P9. Did 4 hours of driving yesterday to get all my paperwork done & the gun on my licence.
Having to wait on my mags as S&W shipped high cap mags with the gun, and we in NY are too stupid to count past 10, so the mags had to go back and I HAVE TO WAIT AGAIN!!
I want to know which god/gods I pissed off… I passed on buying a sweet, sweet, pair of boots to get the M&P. That should have counted as some sort of penance. :shout:
On a bright note I got to get more BlueForce gear to expand my range bag.
