NiB is not necessary IMO…I have a BCM phosphate and it works great…

I use a NiB bolt and still use lube on it. Its a lot easier to clean and theres a lot less grit/drag when you are charging the gun vs a phosphate bolt

I use NIB but not because of the “run it without lube” thing.

I would just so much rather clean a NIB BCG than phosphate.

Idiotic. I wonder how much money they can be sued for when someone dies because they followed this advice and got a stuck bolt during a gunfight.

Even one of the top people at Spike’s has said somewhat publicly (on that other AR forum) that he’s experienced it with HIS company’s NiB bolt groups.
Basically you need to wipe it down at the end of every shooting day. Sure something that should be done regardless, but doesn’t match how these are usually marketed. And not always something that happens when talking about a worn out, end of 16 hour patrol, grunt.

There are maybe three coatings I’d consider. Microslick from Cerakote, NP3 or NP3+, and maybe hard chroming.

I am gonna make a guess on this say maybe the issue is if the BCG was designed from the ground up to be NiB or not…in other words, a milspec carrier with the added thickness of a coating is more likely to be stuck than one that was engineered with that in mind.
