I’m beginning to think they are rather backed up. I’ve been waiting over a month for a Form 3 transfer of a silencer so I can start my Form 4, and I called Gemtech yesterday and they haven’t received the approval yet for the transfer to my Class III dealer.
SBR: My wait time was round 6 months total about a year ago for a personal Form 1.
But then again I didn’t included the “CERTIFICATION OF COMPLIANCE WITH 18 U.S.C. 922(g)(5)(B)” so they sent my Form 1 back. But on the good side it was only 25-30 days after I resent it that I received my stamp. Best of luck and all I can advised is to be patient.
It is worth the wait lots of fun and a lot lighter too!
You as well? I’ve been waiting on a form 3 to clear from Gemtech for over a month! Then I get to send in my form 4 too! Seems to take forever doesn’t it…
I just wonder how in the world they actually do things at ATF. Why does it take so darn long? With today’s computerized system, I find it difficult to believe the entire process couldn’t be done in a week. Especially when they have fingerprints from a prior application.
Why is it that in the back of my mind, they really don’t want us to have these toys, and that they make the entire process of having them entirely cumbersome and drawn out, to make the vast majority of those who might want them discouraged from ever applying.
I don’t see a reason why it should ever take so long for an application to be approved, except as a deterrent to ownership.
Yeah, it’s my 3rd can. Gemtech Halo from Gemtech to my dealer.
I work for a rather large company and I can understand technology constraints, trust me! But this whole process is archaic and needs to be made over in a 21st century kind of way.
OTH, maybe they do it to discourage people from wanting to deal with it like the other poster said. With that being said I wonder how many crimes have been comitted with a registed silencer that wasn’t stolen?
Damn! I can only dream of it taking 3~6 months. I sent a SBR and a suppressor in on March 8, 2009! Got the SBR back in February 2010, still waiting for the check to cash for the suppressor…
