AK-103’s shoot better.
Barrels are probably virgin, unissued. Still non chrome lined, but very good steel.
After owning many underfolders, including an original Mitchell imported Yugo, I can categorically say that while underfolders certainly look cool, and allow you to get out of your T-72 or BMP quickly, or your Fiat in downtown Beirut circa 1983, they really suck as far as shootability.
If you want one just because you want one, they look good. But if you want a practical AK, I’d look at something else.
What I like about the underfolder it can be slung under a coat and carried discreetly. Picture bugging out with your family on foot and moving through a inhabited area under the distant watch of unfriendlies. If they see you carrying a rifle you might get shot a from 300 yards. With a slung under folder under a coat you may be ignored or accosted from closer range with you enemy revealing themselves and giving yourself a fighting chance.
This is my logic for owning and training with a AK underfolder. My scenario may be silly but it seems logical to me.
I’d really like to know what receiver they are using and who did the build.
Also for $800 we are in Arsenal price ranges. And everything Templar said about that underfolding stock is dead on. Possibly even crappier than a folding Uzi stock.
I’m making an educated guess and saying Red Jacket builds on DCI receivers.
This was my Mitchell (five years ago). All Yugoslav.
The pistol grip was actually brought back from Iraq for me.

Now that’s a yugo.
I had about 3 dozen various Yugo models in the armory at one point. One of them was in excellent shape, but the barrels all suffered from some pitting and corrosion since they weren’t chrome lined.
Yes - did not want to imply any ‘practical’ sense in an overall carbine. the way they fold is neat, but VERY inferior to the Russian modern folders.
It would be nice to shoot if the build is good, and the barrels are ORIGINAL and pristine - they must be tack drivers for 7.62s. Heck My CAI/GM shoots very well - these would be CHF and excellently done.
You can carry them in a discreet way.
I would NOT get out of a T72 very easily with one of these - in fact, most of us couldn’t get out of ANY T72 very easily - there is a reason they recruited men in the 5’4" range. I felt cramped in an M1A1 with a 120 breech…
Did it have one of the FAT wooden grips on it before?
Yep. The pre-1989 import Yugo’s from Mitchell’s and American Arms had the fat wood grip that was only issued on the M76 sniper rifles.
Probably to help get them in the US, as “sporting rifles” per 1968 GCA.
Great observation it took me 3 underfolders to come to that same realization.
I had a polytech Legend Underfolder It did have the Cool factor but was a pain to shoot ,I like the side folder On my Ak-103 Now much better
Those are Blackthorne/Vulcan/Hesse/Velocity/Whatever they are today builds, guys…
