NEW YORKS PROPOSED AWB

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME. So now it’s down to 1 allowable feature which is the magazine. My choices are either turn it in, permanetly render it useless or register it so need be they can come snatch it at a later date. New york can suck a di@#

Did you read the dates? I think this bill is dead.

But it’s worth noting the language – aped in all the new AWB Bills – about how these guns are just too dangerous to be in society. Scary.

pretty sure the bill is dead, but it was pushed by H Clinton, with a large backing on dems; true they may have just been posturing with a bill that had no chance, but the framework is there. Obama is likely more anti gun then Clinton, so don’t be surprised if you see this bill brought out “to test the waters”. Many people have said that any type of gun ban bill would be dead before it hits the floor, but it’s much easier to be safe then sorry.

get familiar with your US senator and house Reps right now. Call them so that they know your name and your position on gun issues, and other issues. send them emails, xmas cards, bday invites…make sure then know your name.

Hillary did not push that bill. That is a New York STATE bill, not a federal bill.

Sounds like California law

Yes it is a New York State bill. And Hillary is a NYS Senator. She was all over it.

Really? Hillary is a New Your State Senator? Then why is she in the US Senate? Did she get confused?

Why would a federal Senator involve themselves in state Senate affairs?

I have never seen Bob Byrd involve himself in the business of the WV State Senate.

Do you have a transcript of this event?

Have you ever taken a Government class?

quite right, i stand corrected. i was thinking of HR 1022.

Here is how it works. Pay attention and listen up. Each state sends a senator to Washington where as a group they form the US Senate. Hillary is NY’s Senator. I have not taken a government class but I know enough to see that you dont have a clue what your talking about. Go to the link. She says that she is NY’s Senator. Dont come at everyone sideways. You just make your self look really foolish.

Everyone should step back, take a deep breath and then re-examine. Yes, Hillary Clinton is one of the the elected Senators from New York state and she represents you at the federal level. She does not have anything to do with laws passed at the state level. If you look you will see that members of the state legislature are called Assemblymen or Assemblywomen. They are the ones who make and pass laws at the state level.

Here is how it works. Pay attention and listen up. Each state sends a senator to Washington where as a group they form the US Senate.
Actually, they elect TWO
Hillary is NY’s Senator
One of two
I have not taken a government class.
Really? I couldn’t tell:rolleyes:
but I know enough to see that you dont have a clue what your talking about.
No, you don’t either
Go to the link. She says that she is NY’s Senator.
Well, just damn her with pancakes for that! The NERVE you say! A Federal Senator From New York claiming to be a Senator!
Dont come at everyone sideways. You just make your self look really foolish.
I am not responsible for your lack of understanding of simple, common knowledge. Don’t blame me for your shortcomings.

Look, you obviously don’t know what you don’t know. You don’t know the difference between a Senator from a state and a State Senator. Hillary is the former, she deals in FEDERAL LEGISLATION. There are one hunderd US Senators but there are literally over a thousand State Senators collectively within the various 50 states. The bill Iraqgunz quoted was a New York State bill, not federal. She has no jurisdiction at the state level. It isn’t her job. Do you understand the concept of jurisdiction? Everyone else understands what I mean, please don’t try and be too cute by half. And please don’t offer your unsubstantiated musings as authoratative.

You were wrong, you were called on it. Be adult and own up to your mistake and stop digging your hole deeper.

WGAF, for all intents, The Brady Bill never sunset in NYS.

I love their reasoning:

The effect of these weapons has become increasingly devastating as
gun manufacturers develop more enabling features for the purpose
of military applications. Approximately 2,000,000 assault weapons
are currently in circulation in the United States. The
availability of military style assault weapons poses a serious
threat to the public health and safety. Most citizens, including
gun owners, believe that assault weapons should not be available
for civilian use.

In addition, tragic events such as the 1999 massacre at Columbine
High School, the 2002 Washington, D.C.-area sniper shootings, the
2003 execution-style killings of undercover officers in the
Firearms Investigation Unit of the NYPD Organized Crime Control
Bureau and the deaths of one in five law enforcement officers in
the line of duty (1998-2001) all involved the actions of
individuals using assault weapons.

Lets look at the FBI crime statistics for New York state:
Muders: 921
Firearms Murders: 400
Handgun Murders: 308
Rifle Murders: 14

Yeah a huge problem with assault weapons.

The 1999 Columbine murders didn’t use any assault weapons, and the DC snipers didn’t spray their weapons, they took their time and used aimed shots.
