New York "Ghetto" Tours Shut Down After Complaints from City Officials

“A New York company offering tours of Bronx neighborhoods has shut down after officials objected to its advertising that claimed to give visitors “a ride through a real New York City ‘ghetto’,” according to a statement from Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr.”

OK, not PC in the least, but this kind of reminds me of the spoof-ads for Pirate Cruises of the coast of Somalia a few years back (with ammo packages at additional expense).

That was a spoof?? These tickets are no good??? :frowning:

But they promised it would be safer than a Carnival Cruise…

I would have paid to pirate hunting, seriously.

And to think there used to be brothel tour packages offered OCONUS.

“See real crack whores.”

:sarcastic:

Depending on who moves in next door, you could be sittin’ on a gold mine!

Man I wish I could have figured out a way to make money by showcasing the stupidity of those neighbors. Problem is that kind of ignorance can be seen for free at any of the Wal Marts down here.

Nowadays an amphibious assault would be safer than a Carnival Cruise.

I think I can safely assume I would likely shit my pants in either scenario.

Truth.

double post.

I’ve heard of niche businesses…but this is weird.

Who is interested in seeing a ghetto?

Honestly, you could make a real go at this, if you could get venture capital funding and a Letter of Marque from Congress. Think about it, you get some old freighter and pretty it up a bit on the inside, but leave it looking like any other old freighter on the outside. With the right setup, you could offer all sorts of amenities:

  1. Small arms rental (or bring your own)
  2. Ammo purchase (or bring your own)
  3. Pro shop and gunsmith on board
  4. Crew-served weapons available for rent
  5. Helicopter tours (a Texas favorite, just like shooting hogs)
  6. SCUBA diving after the encounter (shark suits for rent)
  7. Shark cage diving after the encounter
  8. Excellent sport fishing, with free chum!
  9. Friendly instructors who will help you refine your technique
  10. And for the truly dedicated sportsman, an in-house taxidermy service!

Think of it like a zoo. Humans are curious creatures, some find the the whole “ghetto” thing alien to them.

I grew up in a rural environment; petting zoos could seem strange to me as I handled my share of farm animals doing chores. But to a kid who grew up in the concrete jungle the idea of touching a farm animal would be quit a new experience. I read an article once about some inner city kids who thought milk came out of a machine, sad really. :frowning:

That’s true… We have petting zoos all over here (vacationland of Tennessee). Just enterprising local people that fence off their yards and turn the goats out. Kind-a like deliverance around here ya-know… ron

Perfect.

I had forgotten about that scene in the movie. Hey Holmes!

We should be trying to provide DIGNITY not HUMILITY to all persons - especially our fellow Americans.

I take no glee in the misfortune of ANYONE - no matter the cause.

Just my opinion.

No Ghetto Tour in the states can compare to the time I spent in the Favelas of Rio in Brasil
