This looks promising. Vortex 1-4x24 Reticule available in mils and moa. I see no mention of what focal plane the reticule is on. I like the looks of the reticule. It balances cqb and mid range precision pretty well imho.
It’s a second focal plane reticle.
We also have a whole new series of scopes coming out in the Viper PST (Precision Shooting Tactical) line. MOA/MOA or mrad/mrad available in all models, SFP or FFP in the 4-16x50 and 6-24x50 models.
Everything is up on our new tactical website: http://www.vortextactical.com/

not t be the turd in the punch bowl, but I don’t see a need for target turrets on a 1-4.
given the probable use of this optic, I’d rather have set it and forget it adjusters under sturdy low profile caps and a SPR reticle.
I certainly understand your reasoning. I think there is some personal preference here. We’ve had a number of requests from customers who want the ability to use a BDC knob on an optic like this and the target style turrets give them that option.
Additionally, there is a CRS zero stop system on these turrets, so that return to zero is easy.
That being said, I realize there are also valid arguments for the capped style turrets and I think that is a very good possibility for 2011.

Looks like a great optic. Vortex keeps popping up on my radar.
It seems that there are increasingly good options in the variable magnification genre and this should make an excellent DMR optic where the BDC and zero-stops bring good things to the table.
Given it’s a second focal plane can I presume that the reticle holds are accurate at the 4x setting?
My biggest request in these types of optics is a quick ranging reticle. Mil-ranging works, but something like an ACOG reticle is far faster.
Yes, you are correct. The reticle subtensions are accurate at 4x on the 1-4x24.

Where are Vortex optics manufactured?
Our stuff is made in a number of different places. The Viper PST’s are made in the Philippines using glass from Japan. The Razor series is made in Japan.

Good to know. Thanks for that information! ![]()
I totally disagree. We need target turrents to range in three gun. You need to have some way to dial in for 400 and 600 yard targets.
Pat
I agree with you. A ACOG style reticle would be great. Is the reticle illuminated and if so is it daylight visible. (Never mind I just looked at the sight it says daylight visible)
Pat
I trust you will have the scopes at the SHOT show next week
I am very anxious to check them out
Your binoculars in particular are getting great feedback on the Opticstalk forum which is sponsored by SWFA.com
Yes, that’s correct. We will have some prototypes at SHOT on display.

cool
thanks
looking forward to checking it out
Looks good! Will check it out at Shot.

Sam, what’s the battery life like?
About 110 hours on the highest setting.

All
on this one.
+1 BIG THUMBS UP on External Elev./Wind. Adj. I hate capped adj. knobs.
I’d rather have & not need then need & not have.
I bow to your experience Pat, I didn’t know you can encounter targets at 400-600 yards in three-gun. are these targets at known distances?
is 4 power enough magnification at those distances?
When will these be available for purchase?
Also, is this a True 1x mag.?
Thanks & Have a great one,
