NEW, RRA "OPERATOR" STOCK & Related Queries

Good Morning Guy’s,

MANY THANKS to all that replied to my recent query regarding the MagPul CTR -vs- the LMT SOPMOD stock. I've pretty much ruled out the CTR for the time being, & have narrowed things down to either the LMT SOPMOD or perhaps the MagPul ACS unit. BUT, just whebn I'm close to making a descision, I became aware of the new RRA "OPERATOR" stock. It appears to be similar to the SOPMOD variety, although I haven't handled one yet. Does anyone have an opinion about this new RRA entry ? Also, as I consider the MagPul ACS for my purposes, I've noted more than a few "slightly used" examples up for sale on the various boards & forums. That tends to scare me. Is it just coincidence, or are many folks attempting to part with their ACS units shortly after acquiring them ?? Basically, I'm just looking for an all around duty / defense stock, that will go on a Colt 6920 with minimal accessories. As it stands now, it will wear only a TLR-1 white light, EO Tech 516 & a 7.0" rail assy. Any suggestions or comments will be much appreciated. THANKS

I can’t speak to the RRA stock, but as far as the ACSs being up for sale - it’s a fairly new product and a lot of people will buy one to try out and then sell it if it’s not better than what they’re currently running. Also, some people buy them just to sell them if/when they dry up to make a little coin on - this seems to be especially true of Magpul gear. I haven’t read anything bad about the ACS, so I wouldn’t let their presence on the marketplace boards scare you…

The RRA Operator is currently only compatible with commercial receiver extensions. The SOPMOD is only compatible with milspec receiver extensions. If you ever want to try the SOPMOD, you’d have to swap out your extension.

Frankly, you’re better off staying milspec with the receiver extension.

RRA operator isn’t for your 6920. The RRA stock only works with the commercial tube.

Go with SOPMOD, Magpul ACS or the Vltor EMOD.

Friend of mine has a RRA OP stock on his custom build and it’s a very nice stock kit for the money. I think he paid about $125.00 for the entire kit including tube, spring, buffer and stock. It only comes in the commercial flavor at this time and from what I’ve read you can only get it in the kit format.

MANY THANK’S Guys for all your replies, they’re very much appreciated. I’m pretty much decided on the SOPMOD, as I don’t think I can go wrong with it for all around use. I still may pick up a MagPul ACS for my Stag M-5 / 6.8, so that way I can swap the different stocks around between the two if I feel like it. Lastly, I’ll probably go with a MagPul CTR(M) for my Colt 6520, as it’s my lightweight, & I plan to keep it that way. As all of my AR’s have Mil. Spec. buffer tubes, I can switch things around if I ever choose to.
