I managed to get a Colt pencil barrel with a 1/7 twist from a buddy of mine that is brand new. Anyway, we slapped it together on a Colt upper receiver I had and a Colt BCG. I put some cheap DPMS Glacier handg. on it to test it out. There is nothing fancy about it at all but it is light and handy feeling! I do not have a good scale to weigh it, but I think its at least a pound lighter than my Noveske 14.5 stainless rifle. Anyway, I was gonna sell it… until this morning. I put it on a buddy’s SBR lower and tested some different loads using a POS Tasco scope with POS rings. with a load I use for another rifle (24 gr. R-15 and 77 SMKs) It grouped right at an inch at 100 yds. Pretty impressive for light weight 14.5" barrel and shit scope. I was more or less just wanting to function test it and was curious to see how it would group so I thought I would throw a scope on it. Well, now me likey! Its gonna get an Aimpoint eventually and be mostly a mess around range gun. Here is a pic of 5 rds at 100 yds.
I can see the appeal of wanting a light weight set-up. It has a very nice feel to it. Anyway, thought I would share it.
