New or Used magazines?

Are these new or used Colt (Okay Industries) magazines?

I bought these online from a well known supplier who advertised these as new. I asked them on the phone and emailed them these pictures. They said they talked with Colt and these are new.

I do not believe for one minute these are new magazines.

The severity of the scratches on the top of the magazine indicate these mags have been inserted into a magazine well several times. I know of no company that checks fit or function in that manner.

I can only conclude these are used or refurbished magazines.

In the past I’ve purchased new Okay Industries magazines and they have never shown this amount of wear on delivery.

I guess in the current market one can sell anything advertised as new and not be challenged.

My patience is growing thin. I only wanted an admittance these are not new. But neither the retailer nor manufacturer wants to admit that. Very poor customer service and lack of ethics in my humble opinion.

Yeah I have never seen a new magazine that looks worn like that. Where did you order from?

Looks brand new to me. That first puppy layer of factory finish marks easily when the mags get insterted into a gun.

You can smell a mag that’s been fired and catch a whiff of burnt powder, etc.

I remember the days of scrounging GI mags during the last ban. There isn’t one thing in your pics that leads me to believe those aren’t brand new.

Look new to me.

How about a shot looking down at the followers?

Look new to me.

Looks like they were not in packages but that’s ok. N

I just took some Okays out of the sealed plastc bag and they look almost the same.

I concur with new. Check for wear and debris in other places.

Does not look new, but doesn’t look “worn”. Maybe just inserted into a rifle a few times.

He’s convinced that they’re refurbished… so the followers will be new in his conspiracy fantasy land.

look new to me. I’m sure grant or IG will confirm, but my Colt 6920s came with 20 round mags that looked exactly the same.

don’t worry about it

I’ll give you $15 each for those and you can buy new ones that don’t have any scratches.

The finish scratches easily. Check the follower for use.

I just received new NHTMG mags that look just like it. They’re not individually wrapped and I believe NHTMG said they test fit before shipping. The finish on the AL mags is thin and soft.

If it bothers you, hit it with some matte clear. The gray will darken and scuffs will greatly minimize. I airbrushed some number identifiers on mine and did a couple light coats of matte clear to help the airbrushing hold. Looks really good.

I’ll go $16.50.

If it bothers you, send them back and ask for a refund.

This is the ugly side of being a dealer or selling shit online. I’ve been pretty lucky… but recently I got a short busser.

Sold some TAP T2, and the fucktard was hurt that is was like 6 years old. WTF??

Should have sold it to me. I wouldn’t have complained about the age or anything. Might even have sent you an LWRC sticker and a bolt carry you could bury as a thank you

And I vote that the mags are new. If I remember correctly OKAY and NHMTG both do insert them several times in a rifle to check for fit. Ok it might not be a rifle but perhaps a jig that replicates the magwell but same difference. It’s part of their quality checks and yes it scuffs the finish. I think it was all discussed in the very lengthy “move back to USGI magazine” thread so it might take some time to track down the actual posts.

Next time I’ll save it for you!

People are always asking this kind of question and always worrying their new mags weren’t new.

That’s just the way it is and that’s just how they look.

I would guess new

I would have sent an LWRC sticker AND a Core 15 t-shirt on top of the asking price.
