I’ve recently taken possession of my new Larue PredatAR in 7.62 and am in a dilemma as far as optics go. Here’s the down and dirty;
This rifle will be used as a range toy, classes on occasion, and if I decide to hunt anything over 100 lbs. again. I am also of the opinion that any firearm I own could be used for defense if the need ever arises. I’ve got the CQB aspects covered pretty well with other choices already, as well as the true precision types…
I’ve currently got an older NF 2.5-10X24 and a Trijicon TR24G that could be candidates. I’ve owned many other 1-4’s and am happy with the TR24 on my 5.56 and can live within its limitations. The only time I shot a PredatAR it sported a Swarovski 1-6 and I like it but am unsure if I want to drop 2 grand on this rifle optic. I played with the new Elcan for 7.62 and am interested but I feel I would take a loss when I bought it, was unhappy with it and ended up selling like I’ve done with more than a few optics in the past.
I’m currently also looking at a few Leupolds and wanted to see what the opinions were of any users. I’m looking at the following;
Leupold Mk4 1.5-5X20 with SPR recticle illuminated
Leupold VX6 mulitgunner 1-6X20 with firedot
Are there any others I need to look into?
