Yeah the downside is not having a illuminated reticle. I guess if they are marketing hte P-223 for hunting then the lit reticle isn’t as important. I dropped the Eotech line and went to a Burris TAC30, the illumination is great and I would have a hard time putting a non-lit scope on an AR.
I am drawn to the compact size and the price. For $150 I should just buy one, beat the piss out of it, and see what its made of.
I checked both out but went with the P-223 3-9x40 BDC 600 mounted on a 20", and used mostly for coyotes. Both are good scopes for the money. When I bought mine they (Amazon) were running a sale which included the mounts. Its a really nice setup.
I got a $10 certificate from nikon with my scope purchase, i might use it towards the software. I got the small model because its mounted on my carbine, when i do my reece build soon. I might get the 3-9 i did download the tables for the pmc xtac 62 and 55 grain ammo. Its neat software!
