I have been a long time reader, and finally decided to start participating with this great forum. My hat goes off to the membership here; such a vast number of knowledgeable, respectful individuals.
On to the reason for this post. I recently acquired a new upper as a partial trade, and would like some info. My interweb search has not found any particular details regarding this upper (and the markings on it). Perhaps those in the know will be able to determine the manufacturer of the unit.
FSB: no ‘F’ marking
Seems to be typical ‘production’ tier 2-3 staking
“M” stamped. I have seen various brands with “M4”, but not just an M.
Perhaps someone will recognize the font style/size?
T marks seem familiar?
Thank you very much in advance for any info that may be supplied. I have no trouble with the function/accuracy with this upper, just curious.
The F mark, if there is one, should be on the side of the front sight probably on the bolt release side. Also look under the handguard for any barrel markings, they might be over the chamber area even partially covered by the barrel nut.
The barrel looks like it is from S&W. The receiver could be as well (as they buy upper receivers from a company that roll marks them with the M4 over the gas tube hole). Just one problem though, that barrel has a rifle barrel extension. The upper receiver also does not have the M4 cuts in it.
So this is either an very old S&W upper (as they did a bunch of stupid chit like this) OR someone pieced it together from LORD knows what.
