New Magpul Stocks: STR and ACS-L

A few days ago, Magpul teased new stocks along with the MS3 on their Facebook page. Looks like someone posted about them a little early:

Well looks like I am spending some more cash on Magpul. I like my CTR. But I always wanted more of a cheek weld. STR stock for me…

I’m diggin’ these stocks. I’ve been wanting to get rid of the A2 stock on my 20", and get something that is adjustable. I’ve been looking at the standard ACS, but I like the lighter weight of these. Better price too.

Very nice. The STR is looking good. Same complaint I had about the CTR. Cheek weld was crap.

Just as I was about to get an IMOD these come out, good timing… hmmm which one should I get?

I wish they had offered a third version with the cheek weld of the ACS-L but none of the storage compartments: like the lower part from the STR and the upper from the ACS-L.

Given Magpuls popularity and initial lack of availability on numerous cases it’ll be a while before you have a shot at either, really.

I dunno for sure, but I think they might be working on that problem. The MOE-K was immediately available in all 4 colors when it was announced, whereas the much anticipated MOE+ was released at the same time but only in black. Now I’m just guessing here, but the early announcement of new products was causing a lot of demand. I bet it was easier for Magpul to just pump out a big initial run in all black, than to divide it into the four colors. People buy black items no matter what. Now that they’ve moved to the announce and immediately available method, they can secretly and calmly produce new items in all four colors and have a good amount of each immediately available for release.

I was looking to replace my EMod, but now this further complicates things. I got the IMod, B5 SOPMOD, and these two now under consideration.

You know, I’m surprised Magpul didn’t take the opportunity to introduce a CTR 2 and MOE 2 along with the STR. They could have used the same A frame body for a new CTR and STR. The only difference would either storage tubes or cheeckweld pieces. Likewise, the MOE couldve been upgraded with sloping cheekweld pieces. I bet people are gonna be crying for a CTR and MOE with ACS-L style cheek pieces now.

Anyone know what the weights are?

I want to know the same thing. I love my 2 ACS stocks, but not for the storage, but the cheek weld. If I could get the same weld for a lighter weight, I’d have to check it out.

I literally just bought a CTR. I’m sure it will be a while before these come out but I am really liking the STR for at least one of my ARs.

im interested in one now, i need to know the weight first. I like the ACS cheek weld + MOE stock

Looks like they kind of sort of realized what people were using more of. The ACS-L still appears to have an annoyingly small opening to reach the adjustment lever. Very minor detail but a stock shouldn’t piss me off. LMT and Vltor works.

I’m glad I held off on the CTR knowing new stocks were coming soon. As long as they release an FDE STR in a timely fashion then I will definitely be picking one up.

These are great, I’d like to know how much more they weight than a CTR.

Prototype ACS-L

(Image holding until its verified they can be released)
