Just saw a new magazine in a bookstore Tactical Weapons, is it worth getting? didn’t able to check it as the magazines were sealed.
Personally I just read SWAT. Saves me money plus I know it’s a solid read.
SWAT is the only magazine! The one, “Tactical Weapons for Law Enforcement”, I think it is get’s me. Every single article about any rifle has the same PVS 22, Forward mounted thermal sight and DBAL A2 in it. I read it and think, how many times do we have to hear about these damn items that most of us and a lot of the PD’s cannot afford. I imagine when the HK45 comes out, they will show how to mount the PVS 22/DBAL A2 on it as well
That is prolly’ because one or more of those items is replica or an airsoft item. They have then in the office and use them as props. This is done regularly by those w/o real access.
There was a good one about a geek who fancied himself to be the all knowing, and borrowed a manufacturers replica from a real deal manufacturer of other then NV items. It was returned in a beat up state because allegedly the borrower to it to a match in order to show the assembled masses how connected he was. Or whatever.
A lot of the NV stuff is bigoted, and not available to most. Using replica guns and accessories is common in the entertainment world.
My favorite quote is “It’s a XXX yard SURE-SHOT!” I cringe when I see that one.
The revelation that they are using airsoft guns for the photos makes me want to see a “It’s a 10 yard SURE SHOT!” blurb on the pic…
I wish I could say I was surprised but, being in the advertising world… not much in advertising does surprise me these days… ![]()
I stick to SWAT and Shooting Times. SWAT is the magazine I’d publish if I were rich, and ST is streaky but still has moments.
That cracks me up I was thinking that while I was reading Charlie Cutshaws’ article in Special Weapons for LE on CMMG’s M2 SGK 10" W/THE KRINK on it and there was Charlie AGAIN writing the same review essentially about the same scratched (okay he may use it for something other than writing magazine articles) up honkin NVD.
He goes and mounts a NVD which as Pat so eloquenlty put it ‘prolly’ weighs as much as the weapon does. I dont know it may weigh 4oz but I doubt it??
Sure killed the CQB aspect I am sure CMMG had designed into the piece to begin with.
Imagine Quasimodo on a stealth raid thats what that weaopn looked like with Charlies’ great big old NVD- LOL
And his ongoing trusty shots of a some Florence Al SWAT Officer negotiating shoot house … not ‘a’ shoothouse or ‘the’ shoothouse or ‘the ranges’ shoothouse or ‘the departments’ shoothouse or ‘my’ shoot house.
…and the arrow showing flying brass whats up with that ?? I’d rather see his groups.
I read SWAT .
No offense to any Florence Al SWAT Officers intended.
I’ll buy those other magazines for humorous content.

EHHH… Its ok, “special weapons for military and police” and “Guns and weapons for law enforcement” are both way better in my opinion.
I believe the mag you saw is the debut issue, maybe it’ll get better with time.
I picked up the intial issue of Tactical Weapons… it wasnt that bad. I read SWAT from time to time when I see an article that might interest me. Overall though, most firearm/tactical magazines dont do much for me.
yes it was the debut issue that I saw. I was hesitant to pick it up not knowing how good the content was, newstand prices in this part of the world is around $15 for the mag, pretty steep. good thing I subscribe to swat ![]()
$15.00 !!!
GOOD GOD MAN. I thought only quality nudy mags were that expensive. ![]()
Chocked full of inaccurate information. If you must, get a copy for the crapper. It’ll act as Ex-lax in a pinch.
Although, I did learn in the most recent issue that special forces guys in Iraq use them Eotech thingies without even turning them on… ![]()
I think the new mag is lousy. I sent my wife to get me SWAT and she came back with Tactical Weapons. The mag is brand new and will probably get better with age, if it lasts.
The authors featured have turned out the same dog drool for years. I doubt they’ll suddenly get smart and accurate.
