A couple friends have an LMT MWS, and I’ve always liked them and shot well with them. Fit and finish was perfect. A few weeks ago the bug bit and I needed to have one. Ordered from DSG and they were awesome and shipped fast.
I bought this gun because of its reputation (and my experience) for fit, function, accuracy and reliability. It retails for $3000,so I expect higher quality and QC than I’d fin on your $800 AR.
I’ve owned and built 18 ARs, and the LMT MWS I got has the sloppiest stock to receiver extension fit I’ve ever seen. The flash hider is not timed correctly, and the trigger sear is not centered on the sear release. They have a QC checklist included with the gun that has the inspector’s initials. I can’t see how a novice gunsmith could have missed these things. If I had bought an $800 AR, I might shrug my shoulders, get a locking stock and go shoot it. I didn’t buy that, I bought a $3000 AR. Hell, the $600 STAG Arms kit I bought years ago didn’t have these issues.
I can’t help but wonder if the inspectors missed these glaringly obvious matters, what else did they miss? Maybe it functioned fine in test fire, I didn’t pay all that cash for something that fit and functions fine, butfor something that is top-shelf. I ain’t looking for beauty-contest crap and this one won’t be a safe-queen, but I I’m think I’m gonna give LMT a call on Monday.
*Note the inspection cards say the stock, compensator, and trigger assembly fit and function were approved.
