New KAC/Magpul rifle from SHOT

Anyone else run across this. Pricing is going to be $2900-3200 depending on which errornet source you listen to. Looks like a solid design.

I find it interesting that Magpul teamed up with KAC for a rifle that is priced around what the ACR will be going for (with better features IMHO). Maybe I’m reading too much into it but still interesting.

They are trying to get 100 rifles pre-ordered before they make it a production gun, otherwise it will just be a concept rifle.

Anyone else have any info?

DONT get ne wrong i LOVE magpul but the musada/acr is really nothing but a glorified SCAR , EVERYTHING looks ALMOST identical

whats the extra button above the mag release, a bolt release? I noticed the ambi mag release on the other side. Also whats that hole near the rear takedown pin for?

That’s a bolt catch button.

Gotta admit that while I don’t need it, I want it. Knights has a great take on the next generation of features on AR15, the trick is getting everyone else to implement them the same way. I can put a BAD lever and ambi safety on every AR15 I buy and UTC treat the rifle, but SR15E3 bolts and gastubes can only be bought from KAC, not that I think they’re going anywhere.

That is a fantastic looking system! At around the same price point as the ACR, I would if buying right now much prefer the KAC.

This gun is on the chopping block over at Silencer Talk, if you want one, you need to get in touch with them over there.

They’re deliberating if they’re going to produce it or not.

IF you want one, get your orders right quick, as we will be making the decision whether or not to make it tomorrow…

That was per KevinB (Kevin Boland) of KAC, but that was also posted on the 28th, so yesterday was the 29th, couldn’t hurt to contact them anyway, IMHO, if you wanted one.

Ha. I think its pretty cool…I have a regular SR15 with TP that looks almost exactly like that minus the dimples and logos…I’m just not a fan of huge white logos all over guns. I even sharpie over my BCM logos.

Yeah if I had your rig I guess I wouldn’t want the one with the logos either! That’s a great looking setup you have!

GotM4 already pointed out the first part of your question…that hole is a QD socket.

Correct they had to leave out the QD socket tubes to allow the use of the Magpul ASAP plate.

They are not “operational” on the Magpul version as you can see the inserts are not there, and the metal isnt even cut out.

On mine the ASAP plate ears are filed down, and then re-finished so they don’t hit the sockets. Another knock against that gun. It looks fugly having the lower cut up like that but you can even use the things.
