Got my new Hornady LE ammo catalog in the mail today. Hornady now has a 5.56mm version of their 62gr barrier round. The ballistic coefficient and sectional density is listed as being somewhat different than the .223 version so perhaps it’s a 5.56mm unique projectile. It didn’t look like it was a bonded round. It’s listed as having a 3041fps MV out of a 20" barrel. The product number is 8125N. I don’t think it’ll be as good as the 62gr TBBC. Perhaps DOCGKR will test it some day to confirm.
Good, I have carried the .223 version of their Barrier round for years now in my duty rifle. It’s always displayed good accuracy and the .556 loading may be better for my 14.5" barrel. The only thing that I DON’T like is that individual officers can’t order direct from Hornady like I’ve been able to in the past, which is somewhat of a problem. I may end up going with the new Gold Dot loading.
