Just picked up my Gen 4 G19 today.

Took it down to give it a quick wipedown and noticed a ruddy orange residue on the grooves for the rails in the slide. I’m not sure if it’s just a grease they put on or what it is, my first thought was rust, but I can’t think that’s the case on a brand new pistol.

Fired casings were from 14 Sept 2011. I have 500 rounds of 115gr fmj and 100 rounds of Speer Gold Dot’s. Also put in an order for another 2k rounds of 115gr fmj for more practice.

I’ve used the search function and couldn’t come up with anything on the orange residue. Any insight is appreciated.

That is Glock’s special lube. I don’t know the name of it but it’s supposed to be there. I think they say it’s there for the break in process.

I take it you didnt break it down before you fired it? You’d see a good amount of it if you had.

They come with an copper colored lubricant from the factory.

If you use the search function here about new Glocks you can probably find a thread that tells you the exact makeup of that lubricant.

Thanks for the replies fellas, I figured it was a factory applied lube.

I did take it down, first thing after clearing it when I got home. That’s when I noticed the copper residue, there wasn’t much just on the slide rails and grooves.

Loctite Copper Anti-Seize paste.

Don’t wipe it off! Allow it to work it’s way around your slide’s rails…

Why not? If you clean it and apply other lube what is the negative effect?

Anyone use the antiseize as their regular lube?
