Apparently a few days ago FN announced they will be releasing a new pump action shotgun called the P-12. I’m interested to hear everyone’s thoughts. Link to info: http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2012/07/robert-farago/new-from-fnh-usa-fn-p-12-pump-action-shotgun/
Looks to be based on the Win 1300 design like the previous FN pump. Not bad guns as far as I’m aware, maybe a little lacking in durability but that may have been more of a build quality issue than a design issue.
I’m sure the quality and durability will be great from FN. I just don’t really see a gap in the market that it fills. For the price I would stick with a 590, or 870 in a pump, but if you are a diehard FN customer why not .
I think FN is a bit late to the party for this pump. I don’t see where their new shotgun offers anything of sufficient interest to sway someone away from the big two brands, which offer so many customizable, after-market, options which may not ever be available for this shotgun.
I, too, will stick with my 870s.
I’d rather see them bring back the Tactical Police shotgun.
Agreed. I love all my FNs but I think they should have incorporated some more of the old police gun into this gun.
Probably a Winchester re-skin with an FN logo and a higher price tag than the original 1300 Winny.

You can find a Remington 870Ps for less. Parts availability and durability will both exceed this offering. Wouldn’t be interested.
But then, I was never a fan of the 1300s.
Thirded.
But since these are made overseas, like the SXPs, we probably shouldn’t expect anything even resembling the old 20-inch barrel 1300s. Adding a magazine extension would require extra US-made parts to make the weapon 922(r)-compliant, &c…
The sights are a nice touch, though, IMHO.
