New Eagle Ind. FB Style M4 Chest Rig

Have you guys seen the new Eagle Industries FB style chest rig? I cannot post a picture because I’ve only seen the one posted by Mr. Lennet over on 10-8. This looks like exactly the rig I’ve been looking for. It is similar to the Eagle Paul Howe rig, but only comes from the factory with three FB pouches installed in the center. This leaves PALS webbing on both sides for any other pouches you would like to carry. Now I can have a simple rig with the FB pouches I prefer and still have room to set-up the rest of the rig to my liking.

I wonder when Triad will get these in stock?

Eagle has a few new things coming out that I have to get in stock. Unfortunately, for some of them, I can’t order until 8/1/06.:frowning: That’s OK, though. Eagle certainly does try to stay abreast of the needs of the end users, and that totally outweighs the wait times, etc…

You do realize that today is 8/14/06, correct?

I placed my order last Monday, 8 - 12 weeks wait.

LOL! Classic! Typos…

Is this the vest?

I just bought one July 26th. I love this thing. I meant to post a review, but work has been getting in the way.

I was under the impression that SKD was the only distributor of this rig.

Also a review can be found here under 2nd line gear, Part 2.

Not the same vest. It has three open top/kydex pouches for a single AR mag, then pals webbing on either side of them.

I thought it was a really nice setup, but I still prefer a 2 piece Mav for a non-armored rig.

I’ve been eyeballing one of these as well. I saw something about 8/8 over there or something. Of course, not being able to post there… LOL.

I think one of the 2x4’s would work out great on this rig.

Guess I better go look at this chit, as I need a trunk rig

I agree. Been through that discussion on 10-8. It has three vertical channels and the 2X4 takes up three vertical channels (although it hangs over a lot.) It should work.

Sub, I saw that :o

Dunno, the SKD Paul Howe rig looks nice too. Dinger, have you seen one in person?

Yes, I have been using the Howe rig for the past few months. It is great, but I think this rig with a 2x4 would be “Better” yet still light & relatively inexpensive. This set-up would also place the pistol mag pouches off to the weak side instead of right in the middle. I’m assuming this would make prone shooting a little more comfortable. Not a lot, but noticeable. I prefer FB pouches whenever possible nowadays anyway.

any pictures ? thanks

The only picture I’ve seen was posted by Ben Lennet over on the 10-8 thread. Since he is a mod on M4carbine also, maybe we can poke him enough to post it on M4C.

2x4? What is that?

I think this is the best format for a unarmored “grab n go” kind of rig. Open top, kydex insert, single mag pouches. Again, Eagle is right in there with their M-4 FB Chest Rig. It is built on the same PH Universal rig base, but features much better mag retention. You can argue all day about how many mags should you run. Eagle has gone with 3, which is fine. Others have gone with 4-6 mags. Bearing in mind that with PALS webbing any one of these rigs can be instantly doubled.
It is interesting to note that even is this day and age when body armor is becoming required equipment, that these rigs still sell so well.

2x4 on the right, pistol mags on the left eh?

Rob, if ya hadn’t got yourself canked you’d know these things :o Seriously thou, its an Eagle pouch that holds 2 M4 mags and 4 pistol mags.

ETA: Nevermind I’m on crack today. Pistol mags would obviously be on the weak side. I guess I was assuming you’d run EXTRA pistol mags in seperate pouches.

I have been running one of these for a few months now (a prototype)
Diz, you are correct in that it is amazing how well this type of rig sells even in the days of mandatory armor.
It is a minimalist set up, and though some may question why only 3 mags, not everyone will have to fight off zombies, motorcycle gang small town invaders, UN troops dropping through the chem trails and the like.
The added webbing gives you an option to add other mission essential equipment, but won’t allow you to overload the thing with stuff…
It is an excellent grab and go thing, and i’ll broadly assume that i’ll start seeing them in class.

Maybe even in Florida in December;)
