I got my Dillon 550b in last Wednsday night, got it setup for 9mm, and I’ve allready gone through about 2 lbs of Unique and 2.5K primers!!
Loading 4.8 gr Unique, Missouri Bullets 115 gr “Parabellum”, mixed cases, Wolf SM Pistol Primers, these were done off and on throghout the day (today)…
This is alot easier (and faster) than my Lee Classic Turret…
The tool heads and conversions for .380 and .223 are on the way, along with a RT1200 and a .223 trim die.
My Glock, LCP and AR should be well fed!
I think it’s time to take some more classes, because I’m going to run out of empty brass soon…
Your posts on the subject of reloading actually got me thinking about reloading last year. Started with reading the ABC’s of reloading, bought a Lee Challenger kit and every manual available, loaded that way for about a month, moved up to a Classic Turret press, loaded well over 3000 rounds of 9mm, 1500 rounds of .223, and 300 rounds of .308 over about 6 months, and I figured it’s time to move up a bit, because I was spending too much time at the bench and not enough time at the range.
Like I said, I need to take some more classes, I’m almost out of empty brass…

I’ve been loading 9mm on a 550B for about 9 months now and loving the higher volume of shooting I’ve been able to do as a result. I’m just starting to get into .357 and have .223 dies but am too wary of loading for rifle until i take some sort of class.
In some ways 223 is easier. You can’t double charge a round since a powder charge almost fills the whole casing anyway.
If you get a Dillon or Wilson case guage and follow the headspace min/max, you’ll be fine. Start with loads on the lighter end of the spectrum and build your load up slowly. The case guage will tell you if you need to trim the brass too. And many of the loads out there now can be reloaded without trimming brass. (walmart bulk pack federal for example.)
My main load is a really mild load so I can stretch a pound of powder over more rounds.
