and rather than do it in a vaccuum, or only talk to one or two people who may or may not know shit from brown bread, they are going out to a wide range of people active in that market segment and seeking feedback, and taking what they hear from the majority rather than just one self-appointed SME’s take.
LOL, its not terrible. Many shooters buy all the Magpul MOE components and then have to sell off all the components they replaced. Many find this to be a PITA.
I just started a project on Colt’s civilian market for a business class oddly enough. Essentially about how Colt could destroy the likes of Bushmaster if they had a marketing campaign based on the irrefutable facts of their superior quality and the history behind the name.
Ummmm…yes I can agree with that. I have a rifle the same as the pic, only it was done aftermarket style. Now, what to do with all of the left over parts?? Gun show!!
It’s awesome to see Colt evolving, i just wish they had done it two years ago before i bought my 6920 and outfitted it with pretty much everything in Grant’s pictures. I could have saved a lot of cash.
Looks to me like $200 in Magpul parts (or $175 after I log in). If stock 6920s are now $900+/-, and this gun is $1100+/-… is it really any kind of savings other than not having to do the work?
I do agree about advancing the AR, and such a big production outfit such as Colt would give a lot of credence to setups other than the typical plane jane lower and legacy setups.
I think its great, though, that the AR is over 40 years old and still keeping up with the latest designs. With modern enhancements and the number of companies producing stuff I have little reason to buy other carbines/rifles with limited modularity and aftermarket support.
Buying this rifle would have saved me a lot of time I have spent slowly upgrading my stock 6920…
Rob S - make sure you remember to factor in shipping costs of purchasing the magpul furniture online (no way I am getting those prices in stores up here), at least for me that makes the Colt offering a better monetary deal.
The other advantage to buying it from Colt (with all the Magpul components) is that it is a factory built gun. This matters for when you re-sell the weapon.
