I just traded in one of my hunting shotguns to get a Ben. M2 Tactical.
I have several Benelli’s so this decision was easy.
It has: 18.5 barrel
It has Comfort tech stock, no pistl grip (I’m OK with that for now)
Upgraded to Ghost ring Night sights, Mepro’s GTG here
Need Help:
No barrel extension, would like to upgrade
Standard Bolt handle, would like to upgrade
What choke tube for Slug and 00Buck, most versatile
I will use for HD and maybe 3 gun.
If you have recomended upgrades I would appreciate LINKS if you know em. Got a couple days off and would like to get this done.
I put a side saddle on my M2 that held 6 shells and a shell holder on the buttstock that held 5. Cycled just fine but I shoot magnum loads and ditched the side saddle later. I’ve heard of this problem, just never seen it.
After running a bazillion rounds through my M1 without a hiccup, I can’t think of anything else to do to one.
I own an M2 Tactical 18" barrel with rifle sights.
For 3 gun, I run a Nordic 5 shot extension and extended bolt handle.
For social use, I do not use the extension.
3 gunners have found that adding too much weight causes stoppages. Holding it loosely instead of firmly into the shoulder can also contribute to stoppages.
As mentioned above, don’t add too much weight.
Of course, you could test by adding weight until you have stoppages. Hold it loosely, too, and not tight into the shoulder.
Congratulations on your new shotgun! I have the same exact one. M2 with Comfortech stock. I love it. I’ve actually tried the Tacstar, Nordic Components, and Dave’s Metal Works tube extensions. I started off with the Tacstar tube since it was immediately available at the fun shop. I took it home and the finish was flaking off of it right out of the box. I took it back right away and will never buy Tacstar anything again. I had the Nordic Components next which I was very pleased with. Well built, nice finish and worked well. A couple things to note though: finish did not match the finish of the M2 (not really a big deal, but it is slightly different) and the tube does not thread into the stock nut. For me, I wanted to be able to use the stock nut with forward sling attachment point so I went with the Dave’s Metal Works tube. I’m very pleased with this item as well. It’s odd though, because it comes with an aluminum red follower Oh well. I don’t care. Just seemed a little bit weird.
For the side saddle, I went with the Mesa Tactical 6 shell side saddle. It has a picatinny rail and installs into the top of the receiver. I’m very pleased with this product as well.
With respect to the reported weight issues, I personally have had no issues with the M2 wearing the items above. I’ve shot 00 buck, slugs and plenty of #7 bird shot with no malfunctions. I think I’ll have to try harder next time to cause these issues that I’ve read about. Perhaps I’ll design some tests and report them here on M4C.net.
