I am definitely leaning more towards the LMT, I like the fit and finish better than the Colt, I’ve been using Colts on the governments dime for 20 years so I am very familiar with them.
LMT doesn’t finish the barrel under the FSB, and they don’t fit taper pins in the FSB.
If the LMT is a discount to the Colt, and those things don’t matter to you, then the LMT might be a good choice. Both are good, but the Colt is a little better.
If you get the MRP version of the LMT than you don’t have to worry about the FSB in the first place.
I have an LMT and love it but I don’t see how you can go wrong with either choice. I live the MRP offered on the LMT plus I like that it comes with other things which are important to me like the Ergo grip and Sopmod stock. You could of course get some of that on the Colt as well. However, you could not get the MRP and to me, that is a big deal.
Out of the two the LMT just feels better in my hands, it’s better balanced and the cheek weld is comfortable with the sopmod stock.
I do like the 6920 as it is as close to my issued M4 as you can get in a 16 in semi carbine, but I am thinking of branching out and trying something different as all I have ever used have been Colt M16 variants A1, A2, A4, M4 over the years.
I looked at DDM4 and LWRC carbines as well, but can’t justify the expense for a plinker.
The only things that are going on the gun are irons and a EOTech HWS, other than that I have no interest in having a ton of things hanging off of it, it’s going to be a stump gun for shooting vermin and targets but still having the reliability to do extreme duty if necessary.
I know for the amount of shooting I am going to be doing with it I could get by with a Bushmaster, Rock River, or similar.
Dont know about the LMT, but the Colt’s have been seen for around 1300 recently. The DDM4 can be found for 1500 from a few places. So if you can find the Colt for that 1300 price, its gonna be cheaper than the DDM4. I am still biased towards the DDM4 though so I would pay the extra for it.
