New AR Builder

I have been looking around and decided I wanted to try and build an AR. After researching components I have decided on what I want and wanted some input from others on the components I plan to use to build my AR.

  1. LMT : 16" Upper Receiver Assembly with flash suppressor
  2. LMT : 5.56, Enhanced F/A Bolt Carrier Group
  3. LMT : Defender Lower with SOPMOD Stock, Two Stage Trigger, Ambi Selector and Ergo Pistol Grip
  4. DD 9.0 M4 Free Float Handguard (Midlength)
  5. Tango Down Vertical Grip

That is all I can think of for right now, except for optics and a light system.
Any suggetions are appreciated and welcomed.

I would suggest a 14.5" barrel with permanent Vortex or Phantom instead of the 16" barrel.

For what you are going to do with a carbine, the extra 1.5" of barrel just gets in the way.

What gas block are you going to use under the rail system?
Make sure the gas block is either set into a detent or pinned into place.

I am not sure what gas block I am going to use. I was thinking about a low profile gas block, but I am not sure if that will work in this case.
Which is better, to have the gas block in a detent or pinned into place?
Thanks for your help.

It’s best to have both.
When I pin gas blocks, I set them intoa detent first to hold the block in place while drilling for the pin.

I have been to your company website and now I have a stupid question. Do you make the barrels more accurate or do you just put them together better than most?

I make custom barrels from scratch which can be far more accurate than production grade barrels.
Due to my pending backlog on custom barrels, I’m not taking any more orders for custom made barrels at this time.
I also custom build uppers using factory components to include customizing of the profiles, length, features etc…
If it can be changed, I can change it.
