New Anvil Arms Build w/Pics

Ok, you’ve seen one you’ve seen them all. This is my best effort.

Nice set up. That is by far the best breakdown I have ever seen for a description. The bar just went a little higher.

you’re supposed to throw it down into gravelly dirt to take the picture- haven’t you been here long enough to know that?

I put the gun with a copy of the Constitution of the United States to remind people to read it. Hopefully not because it made it look good as a museum piece.

what kind of magazine is that? looks different than a GI 30 rounder

It is a Cammenga EazyMag.

ah, sho’ nuff… can see the slidy thing in the front. I thought about grabbing a couple of those… they’re kinda spendy though. what you guys think of them?

Keep in mind this is a new build. My main goal with this build was to use high quality and durable parts. Whether or not I achieved that is subjective. I think I did achieve my goal with this gun. A range report will reveal the truth of the matter.

Among other things I chose the ACE M4-7 RET because it uses a gusset reinforced receiver extension tube that extends all the way to the RET threads. There are a lot of features packed into this RET. Seven position with laser etched delineations, adjustable screw in stainless steel stops, adjustable shim screw-in (no slop, no rattle), Ambi Sling mounts, plus it includes a sling swivel.

I was sold on the durability of the Cammenga EasyMag through their marketing video. They are made of 1050 spring steel. In person they are heavy duty. A little hard to pull the front down, but I think a little harder is better than too easy. They seem to feed just fine. And they work just like a standard USGI being able to load one cartridge at a time or use stripper clips. Have not put rounds down range yet so can’t give a real report on these yet.

Went with the Young Mfg. BCG because it was great quality and had smoother edges. Got it from Rainer Arms so it is properly staked. Put the Tubbs Extractor and Ejector CS Springs in for lasting durability and to solve extraction issues with carbines.

Chose Anvil Arms Upper and Lower Receivers and LPK because of quality reviews. I am very pleased with the Lower and Upper quality, fit, finish and nice M4 Ramps. The LPK fit well and the selector feels great. Trigger has a slight bit of friction towards the end of the pull, but I didn’t polish it or lube it much.

Honestly didn’t want to go with Bushmaster for my barrel, mostly because of all of the naysayers, but because of limited availability of 14.5" barrels with perm flash hiders I chose them. Have to say I am quite happy with the barrel and M4 ramps. Can’t report on accuracy until it gets to the range.

Midwest Industries product was more affordable than Daniel Defense. It’s high quality, solid, continuous rail and free float. Very pleased.

Chose all of the Tubbs CS Springs (Trigger Spring, Hammer Spring, Flat-Wire Buffer Spring, Extractor Spring, Ejector Spring) for lasting durability and lighter pull on the trigger.

Magpul XTM Rail Panels are rugged, solid fitting and versitile. Magpul CTR Stock has a nice cheek weld and locks out the slop and rattle. The rubber buttpad is nice too. Magpul Enhanced Trigger Guard for more solid feel and covers the gap. Magpul MIAD Grip for it’s solid feel, grip texture, fit options and grip core versatility.

KNS Anti-Walk Pins to keep the pins in place of course. And to be honest, for the look.

MaTech 600M BUIS for it’s ranging capabilities. And to be honest because it’s on the M4 and I got a deal on it. Mostly pleased with the quality, but haven’t sighted it in yet.

SOG Armory Charging Handle with Tac Latch. Pleased here, but will do away with the Tac Latch for a smaller one in the future. May try a steel charging handle too.

So how’s it shoot? How many rounds do you have down range with those mags?

i don’t know anything about anvil arms- why’d you chose them?

I did a lot of research and reading (customer reviews) prior to purchasing. The vast majority were very happy with their Anvil Arms products. I determined that LARS was the manufacturer of the Upper and Lower and from my research on them, I came to the conclusion they were very high quality and Mil-Spec. The upper receivers are milled from Cerro Forgings (keyhole).

I determined that for the price (low online, but not after shipping and FFL fee) the fit and finish were going to be very good and I really liked the roll mark better than all the others available plus they put a nice small Anvil Arms laser etch on the tail of the upper (so you can visually see the upper and lower are a matched pair).

The fit of the upper and lower receivers are very nice. No rattle. Not to tight, not too loose. No huge gap where light shines through. The best part is I can easily push the takedown pin through with my thumb and grab it with my fingertips on the other side to slide it out. And when I put it back together I don’t have to cock the hammer. It goes together smoothly without the hammer cocked.

I am extremely please with my Anvil Arms products. In the end they weren’t less expensive than other options, but the quality is there and I would certainly buy from Jon again.

i noticed the anvil lowers were on “sale” for a hunna dolla. pretty good price for a quality lower, but I don’t know enough about them. every time I’m about to buy a lower online lately i gotta stop myself, and remind myself that- THE GUN SHOW IS COMING! no transfer fees, no shipping- just a background and buy.

you get yours at the sale price? you said finish is good- how about tool marks and flash in the trigger guard, above the forward takedown pin, outside the magwell, etc?

I think it’s high quality. Judge for yourself.

Shot it yet? I’m interested to see hear how those mags work.

I’ll let you know.

looks pretty good… a lot better than spamsammich’s LMT.

Looks good to me. I like that the trigger pass through hole is fairly tight. I’ve noticed a lot of them have longer openings, which seems like an entry point for dirt.

Very nice looking.

Finally got the gun out to the range. It functioned perfectly on it’s first outing.

The Tubbs Chrome Silicon Flat Wire Buffer Spring used in conjunction with an H2 buffer cycled smoothly with both Winchester Q3131 5.56MM and Remington UMC L223R3 ammunition.

The Cammenga EasyMags worked flawless as well.

I’m very pleased.

That ACE extension is pretty slick. I wish they made them in mil-spec diameter as well.

Nice build!

The ACE M4-7 Receiver Extension Tube is one of my favorite parts on this gun. It’s a very solid tube! Notice how the bottom portion is reinforced and extends all the way to the lower receiver. The gusset adds additional strength too. The gusset is tapered so it butts up snugly against the lower receiver when tightened and doesn’t require a receiver end plate. Both of these features create a very solid look and feel to the RET. It has 7 positions that are nice and clearly laser etched. It comes with a rubber coated 1 1/4" sling swivel (not pictured) which is mountable on either side. It also has a stainless steel stop screw so you can easily adjust to the same position, and a set screw to take out the rattle on certain stocks.

Another reason I like it is because you don’t see it on many guns.

It’s not for everyone because “commercial size” limits you to a Magpul CTR, VLTOR Enhanced Modstock or ACE M4 (6 position). But all of those stocks are GTG.
