Does anyone know of a source for the new ACUs with buttons instead of Velcro everywhere?
Clothing sales? They don’t even sell or issue the ACU’s with velcro cargo pockets and cuffs anymore.
All the sources I can find online are still selling the ones with the velcro pockets…
Check clothing sales. The ones without velcro really are not that new.
If you’re military, every Clothing & Sales sells them.
If not, if you need them new, you’re going to pay ~$35 for either a top or bottom from Propper. Ranger Joes sells them, but they’re stupid expensive.
Personally, I’d vote to pick up some used sets of ACUs for $5 on eBay and sew some buttons on. I did that for RSLC with a bunch of used ACUs I picked up at pawn shops.
If you’re not in the Army, don’t waste your money.
If you’re not going to say anything productive don’t bother posting
I’ve spent over 4 years in this uniform, in a fair variety of environments. I think there are much more effective patterns out there that someone should look into if they are not required to wear UCP.
Does that way of saying it hurt your feelings less?

That is actually productive and I appreciate the opinion on the color. Its not a matter of hurt feelings i just get tired of replies that have absolutely nothing to do with the question thats asked. Knowing the reason for your opinion (actually having experience with it) makes your comment mean something. I actually plan to get the multi cam version in the ACU cut though.
Fair enough, I apologize for not including my reasoning then. Have you checked eBay like GTF425 suggested? A lot of guys that get out sell their stuff on there, I’ve gotten some of the ECWS stuff on eBay for pretty cheap. I think I remember seeing optactical.com having some before too.
You went to RSLC? I’m jealous man…lol
I haven’t tried eBay and probably won’t. I ordered a pair of northface nylon zipoffs because my local store had a pair that were the right waist but wrong length and when I got the ones I ordered they were a different generation than they said and I couldn’t even wear them fit wise besides the other differences with the pockets and stuff.
I finally found a site that has the shirt for sure. It lists which set of mil specs its made to and its the one with the buttons, but the pants page doesn’t list the specs. I’ll probably contact them later to verify the pants are the new specs too.
Sorry about taking my frustrations out on you in the earlier post. Thanks for clearing that up. Have you had any experience with the multicam?
A lot of pawn shops in the Bragg area run eBay stores and sell bundles of used/like new ACUs all the time. A lot of us at work order our “field” ACUs off of eBay and, personally, I always get S-R like I order, just sometimes the variations in sewing make some fit like a M-L and others like XS-R. Just depends on what blind person sewed your uniform up, I guess.
Are these for work, recreational use, or the purpose of collecting military equipment?
Without a doubt the best school I’ve been able to attend. Being a Recce ATL in a past life had its perks.
Recreational. Mainly hunting. Which is why I am so against the velcro, because its so noisy. But I like the pockets and the reinforced knees and seat. I have a couple pair of old BDUs which I like but they are too green for fall and winter around here.
Personally, if you can find them in your size, I recommend the OCP ACUs.
Multicam is more gooder than UCP, by a long shot.
Multicam/OCP is awesome. I thought it was just a fad until some guys assaulted the hell out of me and it blew me away. For animals, I’m not sure though. Also keep in mind that eBay experiences will vary based on the seller you are buying from. And check out skdtac.com They have their own line of MC uniforms that I just remembered.
Check out uspatriottactical.com as well.
If you’re buying used see if you can get a pair of the new “army combat pant” that they are issuing for deployments. They steal quite a few ideas from the crye combat pant, like using the same knee pads, but their cut is a little more comfortable than the ACU cut multicams and the crotch is a better design with a material that breathes incorporated in it. I have a few pairs from uncle Sam but I’m sure they can be acquired from eBay on the cheap.
