I think I’d like to put an A1 length stock on my new 18" “DMR” type rifle. The A2 it has now just seems a little long.
So does any vendor make new A1 fixed stocks?

Cavalry Arms does, but I’ve heard they are less than impressive.
Fulton Armory sells them, but I’m not sure they’re new.
Edit: It appears they sell new ones.

You can get a real A1 stock from RockRiver for around 16.00 bucks last time I looked. The Cav ones do suck.

I run the old Colt A1 stock. It’s pretty good. The COLT CS stock is the one to have. But they’re hard to find. S.A.W. had them at some outrageous price.
I have a real one, but it’s kinda old, was looking for a new version made to similar dimensions.
I may just bite the bullet and put the old one on it. ![]()
What’s wrong with the Cav Arms stocks? The only gripes I’ve ever heard about them are the trapdoors, but the buttplates can be swapped for standard A2 style ones (which most people who are changing out an A2 stock body will have on hand anyways).
Any particular issues?
I like the Cav Arms C1 length stocks ones but I use Colt/Bushy/FN/RRA A2 stock buttplates and rear sling loops on them when I use them because I think those two parts on the Cav Arms stocks aren’t up to par.
Those stocks are worn out, cracked, surplus garbage.
I never order one from RR just wanted to help, I got three like new at the gun show here for $10.00 each.
I love the old A1 stocks , but the butt plates are fragle and old ones are typically cracked from use/abuse or over tightening the stock screw. I you are looking into getting one, I would look at that area to see what shape it is in, or if you are going to add a A2 butt plate then that would not matter.
Aren’t VLTOR rifle modstocks A1-length?
What about the ACE stocks? They have them in A1 and shorter lengths.
CavArms is supposed to be re-tooling their A1 buttstock molds, to make them fit better and look “nicer”.
I have not heard a date for their release.
Two Words…
Sully Stock!
If I wanted a heavy duty fixed stock, This is what I would get. It is shorter than the A1 but you can add an extension to get it the same length.
Find them here: WWW.SLR15.com
The Sully stock is far too heavy.
A Colt A1 CS stock is what you want.
Twice seen the COLT CS recommended. I’m not sure I know what it is…![]()
It’s an A1 length rifle stock made by Colt that’s made of the A2 material. I’ve had two and gave them both away. IIRC the CS is on the right side (shooters right side) of the stock near the receiver.
I can’t remember the whole story with these. I’ve heard that they’re from Canada and then I’ve also heard that Colt made some special run of these stocks for the US market.
They are the stock that was used on the C7. I would use one of these over an A1 stock.
They are made with current materials and are stronger.
Are all the CS marked stocks A1 length? I’ve got one somewhere in the pile but never took notice of the length.
