I know this isn’t news and I only posted it for two reason;
I had tried twice before to get a 6920 and was foiled by rising prices. The first time I had planned to buy the prices went up to $1500 so I spent $1000 for a LMT. The second time I made plans to buy BHO sent the prices up to nearly $2K. Which brings me to…
The price, I got this one for $1099. I had been thinking of a BCM but once I stumbled on this good of price (at least I thought it was good) I finally pulled the trigger on a 6920.
Congrats on the rifle. I recently bought a 6920, at around 1400. It’s not the cheapest I’ve seen one, it’s just the cheapest I could get, when I bought it. The 6920s kinda go up and down, and if I had waited for it to go down again, I wouldn’t have had the money, so it was a little like a catch 22. Pay more for it now, or wait, and not get it at all, but I don’t regret it. It’s a fantastic rifle, and I don’t regret paying what I did, I look at it this way…there are some things you can skimp on, but to me, with firearms, you get what you pay for. (that’s not to say that cheaper guns are worse, just my opinion.) I was originally looking for a Daniel Defense M4, and came across this one, so it was worth it for me. What have you done to yours so far, or have you left it alone?
I’ve only added a BFG Vickers sling thus far. Money is really tight right now and I could not have gone much, if any, higher on price. My LMT has an Aimpoint ML2, Troy BUIS, KAC RAS, Surefire G2, BFG sling and Sopmod stock.
I plan to add a battery free optic to the 6920 along with the new Vltor Imod stock and possibly a DD Omega rail, but this may have to wait a while due to said funds (lack of). Right now I’ve been doing a lot of research on which optic to add. I’m looking closely at the Trijicon RX30 at the moment but am also considering one of a couple of compact ACOG’s as well. I would love an Aimpoint M4 but I would like to go battery free this time as I already have one Aimpoint.
I agree, you got a good deal. All I have done to mine is Magpul furniture, (moe buttstock and handguards, MIAD pistol grip) Magpul B.A.D. lever, MaTech Picatinny BUIS, Trijicon Tripower in an American Defense hi rise mount. That’s all for now, more later I guess, like you…to be continued.
Thanks, I looked at a Matech BUIS at a gun show this past weekend. How do you like yours? I have a Troy on my LMT but was thinking of the Matech since it is adjustable for elevation, maybe I won’t have to change my front sight adjustment.
I just may be the only person on this forum who likes the A2 grip, I’ve used the AR systems for so long with the A2 that it has grown on me. I actually pulled the Ergo grip off my LMT and installed an A2. I guess I’m just an old dog;)
Being in the military, the MaTech BUIS is just what I’ve always used, as it’s standard issue on all the M4s I’ve ever used. I like it alright…I like the elevation adjustment, not that it’s something I’ll always need, but it’s nice having it there. I’ve never had any problems with the sight on my duty weapons for the last 5 and a half years, and I don’t think I’ll have any problems with it on my personal AR. I like the A2 grip myself, but I like how the MIAD fills the hand a little better ( have the biggest backstrap installed) and it just makes it a little more comfy to shoot, but different strokes I guess. One other thing I dug about the carbine, is the carrying handle. I took mine off to install an optic, but I still kinda like that retro look, and again, have that elevation adjustment option with the carrying handle rear sight. It’s all good. One thing I really like with the 6920, is that some things I’d have probably put on another AR after the fact, came stock on this sy.stem. A friend tried to talk me into a bushy or dpms, (which are fine by the way, not to start a this vs that argument, haha), but buying that, and setting it up the way I have my Colt set up, I’d have been out around the same amount of dough. Maybe a little less, but it was worth the trade off for me. Enjoy your LE.
You got a good deal on the 6920 at $1099.00 for sure. Mine just cost me $1199.00 about three weeks ago. She’s a sweet rifle and I love it but I ain’t giving up my BCM for nothing. No way.
