Need some selection help. Commander rail

Looking for a commander with a rail.

The wife wants a 1911. she loves my springer pro but would like a commander length gun. and she wants a rail for a nightstand gun

I have seen
Kimber
Springfield
and PARA

any others i should look at?

If she wants a nightstand 1911 then she really wants a full size 5" 1911 as everything else being equal it’s more reliable than a Commander due to the longer slide travel. That being said I suppose there are some Commander types with a rail, but none are coming to mind.:confused:

Honestly your best option is going custom. Make it like you want and get more bang for your buck. Find an old Commander and build up a rail frame for it or going to one of the custom shops for a build. Here are examples:

Or you can do the production route, but most likely that with be the Pro (4 inch) flavor. Springer or Kimber are the only options here IMO.

I have to agree with this statement.

BUT,if you have to get a Commander sized piece with a rail and you don’t mind spending some $$$,I’d recommend an Ed Brown Special Forces Carry with a rail.
