Need some quick advice/help

What should a person do if they come across a full auto FCG consisting of the hammer, selector, disconnect, and trigger? Are they wroth anything? Would a person get in trouble for having these parts?

If you are going to open the can please tell us the whole story. Yes, they are probably worth something depending on who makes them.

IMO the only way you would get in trouble is if you posted it on the net or you installed it and then your weapon fired full auto.

OK, let’s make the long story short (or at least as short as possible). Back in the early 90’s, my father ran a gunsmith business here in NC and he also built a few custom rifles. At some point a man traded my father an “AR15” (for two Custom Remington 700 458 Win. Mags), that I think was marked Frankford Arsenal or something like that (and I remember the markings saying XM16 under the name) the rifle appeared to be a classic AR15 that had no forward assist, triangle handguard, but had a 3 position selector (which allowed for full-auto firing, I know this because we shot on magazine out of the rifle and my father put it away). After he got sick, my father started selling off the stuff from his shop, and sold the “AR15”, but told us he kept the trigger, selector, disconnect and hammer. So forward to the present, my brother had asked if I knew where they were. He is now coming to my mother’s house to help her “clean” out the rest of my father’s (as he has passed away and just left a shop full of parts like gun barrels, 2 Wichita BR actions, some walnut stock blanks, a couple of reamers, and misc. parts) gun stuff.

So I am wondering, if they have in value as far as my mom selling them? Can she get in trouble for having them? What should she do with these parts? Should we just “trash” them?

I think the bigger question is that someone bought a full auto M16 and may not be aware of it. I would look through your dad’s records and find this person. If he bought it not knowing what it is, he could find himself in some serious trouble down the road.

You were reading my mind. Or worst case it was an illegal conversion.

I am not a lawyer, and giving advice in this matter would probably not be a good idea. In addition I don’t want to be sniped at by those that I know would take a shot a soon as I post my “opinion”.

The parts themselves are not a problem, with possible exception of the auto sear. If you had an AR at home then you would POSSIBLY be opening yourself up.

I know a few people that have full auto parts in their AR’s. But, they omitted the sear and the selector lever which are critical for full auto. So long as they never have an accidental "auto’ issue when someone is around they will be fine.
