Need some advice please, UID tags for Colt M4's

I just finished a run of UID data plates for a local Police Dept. These are the same as the ones on the M4’s used by our government. They are metal data plates that are laser engraved with a QR code that is information from the gun.

I had thought about doing a few of these for the board if there was enough interest. I am not soliciting, I am just trying to mark interest in these. So a quick yea/nay, do you think these would sell for $10 each plus say $1 shipping? Let me know how you feel about the price, truthfully that is as cheap as I can go. That’s why I wonder if it is worth my time. I am asking because it would take a run of 30-40 to break even.

These would be customized to the three lines of data from your own rifle. For example mine has a Colt cage code, M4 Carbine under part# and then my serial#. They will scan with a QR reader and show whatever information the qr code is programmed with.

Here is what they look like. (Of course I can do the FNH (square UID) or the Sig Mk25 type small code.

Please note I am not soliciting, I would have to become a sponsor and purchase more tags. I am just checking interest and if the price is feasible if I did a run of them for the public. I buy the tags in bulk and truthfully the feedback for a public run is all I am after at the moment.

Similarly not committing, but would be interested in principle. Problem would be figuring out Line 1, as neither Anderson (lower manufacturer) nor myself have CAGE codes. lol

Good luck with your project!

Then again, that third line could be the perfect fix for figuring out how to quickly and cheaply tag that one lower I forgot to complete as a pistol first and henceforth can only legally be used for 16"-rifle builds without fighting with NFA paperwork…

id be interested in 2 at that price.

If available to the public, I would be interested in at least two.

It doesn’t have to say a cage code though, it can be anything at all. That is the beauty of it. If someone wanted it to say “Anderson Manufacturing” or anything, it is possible.

The only limitation is the size of the aluminum plates. They can vary in size depending on what is needed to say on it. Laser like the one I own can write as fine as a human hair.

Cool product, will buy.

I would be in for one or two. I just finished my OIF M4 clone of the rifle I carried on my first deployment. The only thing missing is the burst cam :frowning: and UID tag

Whats a cage code?

Contractor and Government Entity number iirc

I’d be in for several including FN type

Thanks for the info.

Corporate And Government Entity. A five-digit alphanumeric code that in tandem with the NSN indentifies manufacturer and product in shorthand the procurement wonks can more readily handle.

Thanks for the info.

Now who can tell me what a ‘CHALK’ is. Like from Black Hawk Down. LOL

Ask a research wonk and ye shall receive…
“In military terminology, a chalk is a group of paratroopers or other soldiers that deploy from a single aircraft. A chalk often corresponds to a platoon-sized unit for air assault operations, or a company-minus-sized organization for airborne operations. For air transport operations, it can consist of up to a company-plus-sized unit. Oftentimes, a load of paratroopers in one aircraft, prepared for a drop, is also referred to as a stick.”

DB, not much M4 experience and no operator, but Spreadsheet Samurai and Keyboard Kommando lol

We appreciate your contribution!

Incredible.

Obviously I am no keyboard commando because I have wondered this for years and even Googled it once IIRC.

I always thought it was an acronym for something like ‘Combat Helicopter Assault something something’.

I would most definitely be in for some for a couple of my rifles as well as for my Sig MK25

We give where we can, right? Since I don’t have The Stuff to be a trigger-pulling door-kicker and talk from field experience, what I do have to offer is research skill, time and effort. I actually have an idea I’m thinking about pitching to Admin someday about an “M4 Config Database and Clone Cookbook”… the idea being catalog each M16/M4 variant by NSN, then catalog the components and accessories each was built from and kitted out with, and finally for the cloners listing the commercial model-numbers and for Unobtainium like those neat DD FSB-slotted rails for the Mk18, GL/SSC and M4 SOPMOD-II some “look pretty close” alternates for “___ Inspired” builds. (For example, while I’d like to build a pistol version of an NCIS-issue Mk18, most of the FSB handguard options are unavailable, so I’m looking at improvising with the clearancing-as-discontinued VULTOR CASV based on the EOD version. How hard can it be to slap some FDE Duracoat on top of factory Foliage Green? And while not a perfect match, Midwest has a quad that could be called “GL/SSC or SOPMOD-II inspired,” so if they could cut that down at the end of the FSB slot I’d have my “Mk 18-inspired Pistol” handguard.)

I’m in for more than one.

I’d like a Colt M4 one for my SN
