I’m currently putting together a new AR upper. I’m going with a 14.5 inch barrel (registered SBR) from cmmg. I’m trying to decide between a 12 inch or a 10 inch free float rail. Probably going to go with Daniel Defense. I’ve always like the look of the “dissipator” type uppers, which is what got me to thinking about the longer rail. Can anybody show me pictures to help me decide please?
Evidently the military thought your idea had merit, as they did the same thing with the SOCOM RIS II contract. Daniel Defense was awarded the rail for the M4 carbines.
Below is a picture of the DD RIS II rail on a 14.5" barrel.
More cool pictures are always welcome. I ordered a Daniel Defense 12 inch M4 rail today for my build. Now I need to decide what kind of rail covers I like best. Suggestions? I’m planning on putting Troy folding sights on it, and I already have a TA01 ACOG. I like the idea of a little red dot sight mounted on top of the ACOG that I saw above. Can someone educate me on those too?
