Need M4C's advice and experience: ACLU to work for us?

I found a link on ACLU site that linked to New York Civil Liberties Union (NYCLU) today and it has a form to fill out “to alert the NYCLU of a governmental practice or policy that is implicating a constitutional right”

Could we get them to do something for us as this is a pretty big civil rights issue?

My first thoughts to write, "NY State residents, to include myself, are being denied rights granted to us by the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. In particular, our right to “keep and bear arms which shall not be infringed” is being abused by legislation set forth by the current administration.

Furthermore, Andrew Cuomo and NY State are violating not only the Second Amendment, but also Article 2, Section 4 of the New York Civil Rights Law which states, “…the right of the people to keep and bear arms cannot be infringed”.

The form is simple to download and it’ll only take a few minutes to fill in the above and then have it copied and anyone could add their personal information.

Is this a good idea or am I just reaching?

I’ve been writing and calling reps from all different states and at the federal level as I can’t just sit and watch this unfold without knowing I’ve done whatever I could.

Thanks for your help gentlemen, I need it.

I’m no mod, but I’ll save them some time, and put it to you a little nicer than they might…

oh crap. sorry to all. this belongs elsewhere.

I have always wondered why the ACLU isn’t more involved in gun rights issues. You would think that they would be one of our biggest allies next to or ahead of the NRA.
