I want to make him a fair price but my research must be weak b/c all I see are around $350 used. It is in almost perfect condition and has about 500 rds down range.

$425 would be a good price.
The issue I would be concerned with is that the gun is not original. If he messed with the trigger group or screwed anything up when installing the Wilson trigger then you could have some serious safety issues.
I would return the guide rod back to the original if he still has the parts. Full length guide rods rarely do anything but add weight to a 1911.
