I have a metal chimney pipe sticking up through my living room. Does anyone know of a good resource on how to hide it? I don’t want to box it completely in to avoid overheating and I know I would need to use something that is flame resistant, but other than that I’m lost. I don’t know shit about construction, but my wife is convinced it should be a piece of cake to do. :suicide2: Any help would be appreciated.
I’d talk to someone at a store that sells fireplace inserts/woodburning stoves/etc. just to be on the safe side, but if you use the proper double-wall or triple-wall pipe there’s no problem boxing in the pipe with drywall, providing you follow the recommended clearances. If you’re still uptight about it, use Durock or another cement board.
