I have a chance to pick up another AR. My choices are a Knights Armament SR-15 Mod 0 in Taupe or a POF R415 pinned 14.5. Both rifles are coming in to the dealer.
I just picked up a black KAC SR-15 Mod 0 a week ago that I haven’t got to shoot yet. I’m new to higher end AR’s And didn’t know if one rifle was better built or more desirable. I’m not worried about parts being proprietary as I have other rifles and won’t be carrying this for work. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks
KAC. No brainer. I know more then one person who have severe buyer’s remorse after purchasing POF. They’re heavy and not made to the same quality standards of KAC.
Which one fills the role you have decided needs to be filled by the weapon system?
Instead of asking which hammer is the best choice, make sure you dont actually need a screwdriver.
KAC hands down. The colored SR-15’s arent listed in the catalog anymore so you have a chance at a rare rifle.
Hmm… Dealer also got a KAC Sr-15 Mod 1 in last week that he is planning on keeping.
How about Taupe Mod 0 vs Black Mod 1… This rifle is basically an investment.
Thats a tough one. Personally I want a mod 1 so bad my teeth hurt but its been hell trying to find one in stock that the seller isnt asking 3k+ for. But from an investment standpoint the taupe is a rare rifle.
Get the KAC. As far as POF is concerned, every time I’m in a carbine course with one, it’s the first to go T/U within TD-1, unless there’s a home built or a commercial grade AR in the class.
I appreciate the insight. The poser in me wants the POF because it looks cooler. The smarter part of me thinks the KAC is a better built rifle that will be worth more in the long run. I’m not sure if I could talk the dealer out of the Mod 1 but it may be option if the taupe is just too flashy for me.
Get the KAC and don’t look back. When I did a basic carbine class a guy there had a complete POF rifle and a spare POF upper as a back up. Half way through the day upper #1 started having feeding issues. He tried various GI mags and Pmags from his friends along with different brands of ammo. After nothing helped he dropped the second upper on. I would say less than 100rds later he started having the same problems. After seeing 2 different uppers fail in one day is enough to keep me away from them.
My 9.5" suppressed POF has been flawless through a few K.
I’ve yet to determine whether M4carbine members have more hate for POF or LWRC:D
All that said, I’d get the KAC is given the choice.
You will quickly learn that if you don’t have a Colt, BCM, or a Noveske here, you are going to get slammed.
IBTL
Apparently what should I buy threads are not allowed here. You must have pics and range reports to start a thread. Oh yea and also read the forum rules where your not allowed to post about shit.
What’s with all the butthurt this morning ladies?
Ken…your thread that was locked because it read like a facebook post.
Hey guys I just bought a _______________ omg isn’t that kewl? Can’t wait to shoot it. :sarcastic:
OP: KAC all the way!
KAC is a proven rifle with a long track record of quality and reliability.
I haven’t seen anyone slamming him or POF in this thread for that matter, or telling him to get a BCM, Colt, or Noveske. There were a couple of real life examples pointed out about POF’s that had issues, but everyone else has been answering his question.
As for the question in the OP, when you’re comparing POF to KAC, there is no comparison. That doesn’t mean everyone is saying POF is shit, but between the two, KAC is hands down the better choice. Personally, I wouldn’t ever buy a POF because they are way overpriced, heavy as hell, and seem to have more issues than many of the other brands out there.
As others have stated, get the KAC.
Get whatever is cheaper. We’ll be turning them in for Obama Fones in a few months anyway.![]()
I wasn’t calling anyone out in this thread. I’m going off past threads when POF’s were brought into the conversation, chill.
I own a POF and have never had a hiccup with it. I admit everyday and twice on sunday that it is heavier than most AR’s. If you can get the KAC at a good price, than grab that one. I just have to laugh that the members that are on here that actually own POF’s state that they don’t have too many issues. There are plenty of stories of, “Well my Uncle…” or “I know a guy…” that are floating around.
WTF is a KAS? It’s Knights Armament Corporation, KAC
And yes, I’d get one of those over POF anyday
KAC is the no-brainer. Seriously.
I got dragged into the bowls of YouTube this morning, and saw that the Obama phone lady went on Alex Jones and has reformed her thinking…to the tune of “Obama lied, the phones are a scam on the American people for the benefit of the phone companies.” Something along the lines of a happy meal with a cheap toy for several dollars more than what you could get the cheap burger and fries for.
Kind of encouraging…I thought she was as lost as it gets.
I am basically trading a Armalite M15 and a Polytech Mak90 for my choice of rifles.
